Overview :
We are seeking an experienced Data Governance Architect to lead the design, implementation, and evolution of enterprise-wide data governance frameworks. This role will be responsible for defining governance strategy, establishing standards, architecting governance platforms, and enabling organization-wide adoption of best practices. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Microsoft Purview and modern data governance ecosystems, with strong architectural and stakeholder-management capabilities.
What You Will Do :
1. Strategy, Framework, and Governance Operating Model :
- Develop and maintain enterprise-wide data governance strategies, standards, policies, and frameworks.
- Ensure governance practices enable regulatory compliance, analytics readiness, and business value creation.
- Define governance roles, responsibilities, and stewardship models across the organization.
- Conduct governance maturity assessments and drive enterprise-level change management initiatives.
2. Stakeholder Alignment & Organizational Enablement :
- Partner with cross-functional teams including IT, legal, compliance, security, and business functions to align governance priorities.
- Develop organizational enablement programs, including communication plans, training content, and stewardship onboarding materials.
- Conduct governance workshops, awareness sessions, and capability-building activities.
3. Architecture Design for Data Governance Platforms :
- Architect scalable, modular, and cloud-ready data governance platforms tailored to enterprise needs.
- Evaluate, recommend, and implement tools such as Microsoft Purview, Collibra, Alation, BigID, and Informatica.
- Ensure seamless integration across metadata management, privacy, quality, and policy enforcement systems.
4. Microsoft Purview Solution Architecture :
- Lead the full lifecycle implementation of Microsoft Purview, from design to operationalization.
- Configure Purview components including RBAC, collections, metadata scanning, classification, business glossary, and data map.
- Implement compliance and security features: sensitivity labels, insider risk controls, data retention, auditing, and monitoring.
- Design dashboards and analytics for governance insights and policy compliance.
5. Metadata, Lineage & Glossary Management :
- Architect and manage enterprise metadata repositories and ingestion pipelines.
- Ensure complete lineage tracking across platforms (ADF - Synapse - Power BI - downstream systems).
- Establish governance for business glossary management, review cycles, and approval workflows.
6. Data Classification, Access & Policy Management
- Define enterprise-wide rules for data classification, access control, retention, and information sharing.
- Align data policies with global regulatory frameworks such as GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA, and SOX.
- Leverage Microsoft Purview and Microsoft Information Protection (MIP) for automated policy enforcement.
7. Data Quality Governance :
- Define KPIs, thresholds, validation rules, and remediation workflows for data quality.
- Architect scalable data quality frameworks integrated into data pipelines and analytics workflows.
- Align quality rules with enterprise data domains and business criticality.
8. Compliance, Risk, and Audit Oversight :
- Identify data risks and establish standards for compliance reporting and regulatory audits.
- Configure dashboards, alerts, and analytics for policy exceptions, access anomalies, and governance violations.
- Support internal and external audit functions with structured governance evidence and reporting.
9. Automation & Integration :
- Automate governance workflows using PowerShell, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, and REST APIs.
- Integrate governance tools with enterprise platforms such as Azure Monitor, Synapse Link, Power BI, and third-party solutions.
- Drive automation to reduce operational overhead, improve accuracy, and enable real-time governance insights.
Required Qualifications :
- 15+ years of experience in data governance, enterprise data management, or related domains.
- Deep expertise in Microsoft Purview, Informatica, and modern governance platforms.
- Proven experience designing and leading end-to-end data governance initiatives at enterprise scale.
- Strong understanding of metadata management, data lineage, policy frameworks, and regulatory compliance.
- Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, REST APIs, PowerShell, and governance architecture patterns.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with senior stakeholders and work within Agile delivery frameworks.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and leadership skills.
