Senior GCP Data Engineer Overview :

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), BigQuery (BQ), and ETL pipeline development. The role involves designing and implementing secure, scalable, and high-performing data pipelines, enabling seamless data flow from ingestion to delivery.

This is an individual contributor role, suited for engineers who thrive in solving complex data challenges and delivering enterprise-grade data solutions.

Key Responsibilities :

- Work closely with business and technical teams to understand requirements and translate them into scalable data solutions.

- Perform in-depth data analysis to validate, cleanse, and optimize datasets.

- Design, implement, and maintain secure data pipelines across ingestion, transformation, and delivery layers.

- Develop and optimize ETL/ELT processes using GCP native tools and frameworks.

- Ensure data quality, lineage, and governance standards across pipelines.

- Optimize BigQuery performance, query design, and cost efficiency.

- Troubleshoot pipeline issues, identify root causes, and provide timely resolutions.

- Document solutions, data flows, and best practices for ongoing operations.

Required Skills & Qualifications :

- 8 - 12 years of total data engineering experience.

- Strong hands-on expertise in :

1. Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services for data engineering.

2. BigQuery (BQ) for data modeling, performance tuning, and analytics.

3. ETL/ELT pipeline design & development.

- Proficiency in SQL and query optimization.

- Good understanding of data warehousing concepts and data governance practices.

- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.

- Ability to work independently as an individual contributor.

Preferred Skills :

- Knowledge of Python/Java/Scala for data processing and automation.

- Experience with workflow orchestration tools (Airflow, Cloud Composer, etc.).

- Familiarity with CI/CD, Git, and DevOps practices.

- Exposure to cloud cost optimization techniques in GCP.
