Role Overview :
As an EDI Developer specializing in RPG iSeries, you will serve as a technical bridge between our clients' legacy infrastructure and modern digital ecosystems. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining complex EDI mapping and translation processes within the AS400 environment. Working closely with internal project managers and external client stakeholders, you will ensure the seamless flow of business-critical data, directly impacting the operational efficiency and supply chain reliability of our enterprise partners.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop and maintain EDI maps and translation processes to ensure accurate data exchange between disparate business systems.
- Design and optimize RPG and CL programs on the AS400 platform to support high-volume transaction processing and business logic requirements.
- Manage DB2 database operations and write complex SQL queries to facilitate data extraction, reporting, and system integration tasks.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to EDIFACT standards and system connectivity to minimize downtime for client operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications, ensuring all deliverables align with client expectations.
- Perform rigorous unit and integration testing to maintain the integrity and security of data transmission protocols.
Required Skillset :
- Demonstrated expertise in RPG, CL, and DB2 within an iSeries/AS400 environment, with a proven ability to write clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
- Deep functional knowledge of EDI standards, specifically EDIFACT, and experience in managing end-to-end electronic data interchange workflows.
- Strong analytical capabilities to debug complex system issues and provide scalable solutions for enterprise-level data integration.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and manage client expectations effectively.
- Proven self-discipline and time management skills required to excel in a fully remote work environment while meeting strict project deadlines.
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, supported by 5 to 7 years of hands-on experience in EDI development and AS400 systems.
Key Roles & Responsibilities :
- Develop, enhance, and maintain IBM i (AS400) applications using RPGLE, RPG Free, RPG, and CLP.
- Analyze existing applications and implement enhancements based on business requirements.
- Debug production and development issues using IBM i system debugger.
- Design, write, test, and optimize RPG applications for better performance.
- Develop SQL-based solutions using Embedded SQL within RPG programs.
- Work with DB2 database and maintain data integrity.
- Understand and manage Library Lists, File Members, IFS, and IBM i system objects.
- Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards.
- Troubleshoot application issues and provide timely resolutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams during development and deployment.
- Prepare technical documentation and support production activities.
- Follow best coding practices and deliver high-quality software solutions.
