Job Description

Job Summary :

The Senior System Applications Specialist - DevOps & Production Support is responsible for ensuring the stability, availability, and performance of enterprise applications and their underlying databases in production environments. This role provides advanced application and database support, leads incident management and root cause analysis, and works closely with development, infrastructure, and cloud teams to maintain high service reliability across on-prem and cloud platforms.

Key Responsibilities :

Production Application Support :

- Provide L2/L3 production support for enterprise applications, ensuring high availability and performance.

- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve application, middleware, and database incidents within defined SLAs.

- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for critical and recurring issues and implement permanent corrective actions.

- Participate in on-call rotations and support critical business operations.

Database & Middleware Administration :

- Administer and support Oracle, IBM Db2, and Microsoft SQL Server databases, including :

1. Backup and recovery

2. Performance tuning

Security and access management :

- Support and maintain middleware and application servers such as IBM WebSphere and BEA WebLogic.

- Assist with patching, upgrades, and configuration management of applications and middleware.

DevOps & Cloud Support :


- Collaborate with development and DevOps teams during deployments, releases, and hotfixes.

- Support applications hosted on Microsoft Azure, including integration with Microsoft Dynamics.

- Contribute to automation, monitoring, and operational improvements to enhance system reliability.

Documentation & Compliance :

- Maintain accurate documentation of incidents, resolutions, system changes, and operational procedures.

- Ensure systems comply with IT policies, security standards, and audit requirements.

- Support application migrations, integrations, and modernization initiatives.

Required Skills & Experience :

Essential :

- 8-10 years of experience in production application support, system operations, or DevOps support roles.

- Strong hands-on experience supporting enterprise applications in 24x7 production environments.

- Expertise in Oracle, IBM Db2, and Microsoft SQL Server, including performance tuning and troubleshooting.

- Solid experience with middleware technologies, specifically IBM WebSphere and BEA WebLogic.

- Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Dynamics environments.

- Strong SQL proficiency and experience in diagnosing complex database issues.

- Proven ability to handle high-severity incidents, perform RCA, and manage multiple priorities under pressure.

- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Good to Have :

- Experience with scripting and automation (Shell, Python, PowerShell).

- Exposure to containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.

- Familiarity with cloud-native architectures, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring tools.

- Experience supporting ERP or large-scale enterprise systems.

Education & Certifications :

Essential :

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred :

- Certifications in Oracle, IBM, Microsoft Azure, or Microsoft Dynamics.

- ITIL or DevOps-related certifications.
