Cubic Transportation Systems - Data Engineer - ETL/ELT Workflows

Role Overview :

We are seeking a Data Engineer to build, optimize, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data platforms. The role focuses on data ingestion, transformation, storage, and performance optimization, with .NET (C# or VB.NET) used for data processing services, integrations, and pipeline components.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, and maintain batch and/or streaming data pipelines.

- Build and optimize ETL/ELT workflows for ingesting data from multiple source systems.

- Develop data processing components and services using C# or VB.NET.

- Write and optimize complex SQL queries for large datasets.

- Design and maintain data models to support analytics and reporting.

- Ensure data quality, consistency, and reliability across pipelines.

- Monitor pipeline execution and troubleshoot performance or data issues.

- Collaborate with analytics and BI teams to deliver trusted datasets.

- Document data flows, transformations, and operational processes.

- Follow best practices for data security, governance, and compliance.

Required Skills & Experience :

- 35 years of experience in a Data Engineer or data-focused engineering role.

- Strong proficiency in SQL (queries, joins, aggregations, performance tuning).

- Hands-on experience with .NET development using C# or VB.NET for data processing or integrations.

- Experience with ETL/ELT tools or custom data pipelines.

- Solid understanding of data warehousing and data lake concepts.

- Experience handling structured and semi-structured data.

- Working knowledge of Git or other version control systems.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Good to Have :

- Experience with cloud data platforms (Azure / AWS / GCP).

- Exposure to big data technologies such as Spark or Databricks.

- Familiarity with orchestration tools like Airflow.

- Experience with BI and analytics tools (Power BI, Tableau).

Education :

- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (or

equivalent experience).
