Role Overview :
We are looking for an Associate Engineering Manager (AEM) who can drive execution across applications (mobile/web) and backend systems, acting as a bridge between Product and Engineering.
This role requires someone who can understand product intent, evaluate technical complexity and make informed decisions by balancing :
1. Feature urgency.
2. Technical debt.
3. Business and revenue impact.
The AEM will play a critical role in ensuring that the right work gets done at the right time. The role combines technical leadership with strong execution ownership, ensuring high-quality delivery across applications and systems while enabling teams to prioritize effectively across feature development, system stability and business-critical initiatives.
Key Responsibilities :
- Product Understanding & Requirement Clarity.
- Work closely with Product to understand feature intent, user impact and the business objective.
- Translate requirements into clear, actionable tasks with defined scope and dependencies.
- Estimate timelines and adhere to them.
- Proactively identify gaps, edge cases and hidden complexities in requirements.
- Prioritization & Trade-off Decisions.
- Drive prioritization across :
1. Feature development.
2. Technical debt and system improvements.
- Make informed trade-off decisions based on impact, effort and timelines.
- Continuously re-assess priorities based on changing business and product needs
Execution Ownership :
- Own end-to-end delivery tracking across applications and backend systems.
- Ensure alignment between Engineering and Product teams.
- Identify and resolve risks, dependencies and bottlenecks early.
- Provide clarity on task prioritization and execution expectations across engineering and QA teams.
- Assist teams during the delivery and stabilization phases of the feature.
Stakeholder Communication & Visibility :
- Provide structured updates on: Progress, Risks, Trade-offs and decisions made.
- Ensure transparency in execution and early escalation of concerns.
Required Experience & Skills :
- 6-10 years of experience in software engineering or delivery roles, with prior experience as a Lead / Module Owner.
- Strong ability to understand product requirements, identify gaps and translate them into clear execution plan.
- Proven experience in prioritization and trade-off decision-making across features and technical debt.
- Solid understanding of system interactions across applications (mobile/web) and backend services (APIs, contracts, dependencies).
- Demonstrated ability to drive execution across cross-functional teams.
- Strong problem-solving, ownership mindset and ability to operate in ambiguous environments.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to provide clarity.
