About the Role :

We are looking for a Backend Engineer with strong expertise in Python and AWS to join our Product Engineering team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience building scalable backend services and APIs using Python, FastAPI and/or Flask, along with strong expertise in PostgreSQL and AWS cloud services.

You will work closely with Product, Frontend, QA, and DevOps teams to design and deliver reliable, secure, and scalable backend solutions.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Python.

- Build robust APIs and backend applications using FastAPI, Flask, or similar frameworks.

- Design API contracts, validation, error handling, authentication, and service integrations.

- Develop and optimize database solutions using PostgreSQL and SQL.

- Design efficient database schemas, queries, indexes, and data-access patterns.

- Build services that operate reliably in distributed and highly scalable architectures.

- Design and implement cloud-native solutions using AWS services such as ECS, Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS, SQS, and API Gateway.

- Apply best practices for scalability, availability, reliability, security, observability, and cost optimization.

- Manage and automate cloud infrastructure using Terraform / Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

- Troubleshoot complex technical and production issues and drive root-cause analysis and resolution.

- Write clean, modular, reusable, testable, and maintainable code.

- Collaborate with Frontend, QA, Product, DevOps, and other Engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

What We're Looking For :

- 3 - 8 years of professional experience in backend or software engineering.

- Strong hands-on programming experience with Python.

- Experience building backend applications using FastAPI and/or Flask.

- Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL and SQL.

- Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services.

- Experience with Terraform or Infrastructure as Code.

- Strong understanding of REST API design, backend architecture, and distributed systems.

- Good understanding of software development best practices, testing, debugging, and code quality.

Good to Have :

- Experience with Generative AI, LLMs, AI Agents, AI/ML, or AI-powered applications.

- Experience with Docker and containerized applications.

- Exposure to application observability, monitoring, logging, and distributed tracing.

- Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar platforms.
