Backend Engineer - Python + AWS

About the Role:

We are looking for a talented Backend Engineer with strong expertise in Python and cloud-native application development to join our Product Engineering team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience building APIs and backend services using Python, FastAPI and/or Flask, along with strong knowledge of PostgreSQL and AWS.

What You'll Do:

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Python.

- Build high-quality APIs and backend applications using FastAPI, Flask, or similar frameworks.

- Design robust API contracts, validation, error handling, and service integrations.

- Develop efficient database solutions using PostgreSQL.

- Design and optimize database schemas, SQL queries, indexes, and data-access patterns.

- Develop services capable of operating reliably within distributed and scalable system architectures.

- Design and develop cloud-native solutions using AWS services such as ECS, Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS, SQS, and API Gateway.

- Apply best practices around scalability, availability, reliability, security, observability, and cost optimization.

- Use Terraform/Infrastructure as Code to manage cloud infrastructure.

- Troubleshoot complex technical and production issues and perform root-cause analysis.

- Write clean, modular, reusable, testable, and maintainable code.

- Collaborate with Frontend, QA, Product, DevOps, and other engineering teams.

What We're Looking For:

- 3-8 years of professional experience in backend/software engineering.

- Strong programming experience with Python.

- Hands-on experience with FastAPI and/or Flask.

- Strong experience with PostgreSQL and SQL.

- Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services.

- Experience with Terraform or Infrastructure as Code.

- Strong understanding of REST API design and backend architecture.

Good to Have:

- Experience with Generative AI, LLMs, AI Agents, AI/ML, or AI-powered applications.

- Experience with Docker and containerized applications.

- Experience with application observability, monitoring, logging, and distributed tracing.

- Practical experience using Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar AI development tools.
