Consuma processes large volumes of data to power research that brands actually make decisions from. As we scale more clients, more data, more complexity the infrastructure underneath has to be bulletproof.

We're hiring a Senior Engineer to own the systems layer: the pipelines, the compute, the architecture that makes everything else possible. This isn't a feature-shipping role. It's a hard technical role for someone who thinks in terms of scale, reliability, and what breaks at 100x.

What you'll actually do :

- Systems and platform architecture

- Design and build distributed backend systems and data pipelines that run reliably at scale

- Own core platform architecture across compute, storage, streaming, and orchestration layers

- Lead technical design decisions and set the systems standard for the engineering team

- Own services end-to-end design, implementation, deployment, production stability

- Reliability and scale

- Build and optimize real-time and batch pipelines (Kafka, Spark, Big Data stacks)

- Improve system observability, performance, and cost efficiency

- Develop cloud-native services on AWS, GCP, or Azure Kubernetes, microservices, the works

Who we think this is for :

- 4+ years as a backend, systems, or platform engineer. You've built things that run in production under real load not just proof-of-concepts.

You probably :

- Have a proven background founding engineer/ early engineer at a high-scale product, or equivalent. We care about what you've actually built, not just where you've worked

- Think in systems: scale, failure modes, tradeoffs, and what the architecture looks like at 10x

- Are tech-agnostic you've likely worked across multiple stacks and pick the right tool for the problem, not the one you're most comfortable with

- Have strong fundamentals: system design, data structures, performance optimization

- Take end-to-end ownership you're not done when the code is merged

Even better if you have :

- Experience with Databricks or Snowflake

- Exposure to ML/AI data infrastructure

- Open source contributions or deep systems side projects that show how you think

- Experience at a fast-moving startup where you had to make hard calls under pressure

This role is probably not for you if :

- You prefer working on product features over infrastructure problems

- You want clear scope and well-defined tickets

- You're looking for breadth over depth this role rewards people who go deep
