Job Summary :
The Specialist 3 - Functional Systems & Technology role acts as a senior individual contributor within functional systems domains such as Human Resources, Finance, Legal, or other enterprise functions. This role serves as a subject matter expert (SME) for functional systems, configurations, and technology solutions, partnering closely with business stakeholders to deliver reliable, scalable, and user-centric system capabilities.
The specialist is responsible for end-to-end system configuration, enhancements, integrations, documentation, and ongoing support while mentoring junior team members and ensuring data integrity and best practices.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead business configuration consultation, implementation, testing, and ongoing maintenance for assigned functional systems
- Act as the primary subject matter expert and point of contact for functional systems and technology-related inquiries
- Partner with department heads and business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document business and technical requirements
- Design, build, test, and deploy system enhancements; ensure effective production support and timely defect resolution
- Support system rollouts, user training, and change management communications
- Provide structured user feedback and recommendations to influence future system enhancements and roadmaps
- Perform regular data integrity checks, audits, and maintenance to ensure accuracy, compliance, and reliability
- Conduct needs analysis to identify and support system integrations with upstream and downstream platforms
- Monitor, evaluate, and recommend new system features, releases, and enhancements
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance teams to ensure comprehensive test coverage and proper documentation
- Advocate for optimal user experience by providing feedback on usability, workflows, and system performance
- Apply process design and re-engineering expertise to recommend functional and technical improvements
- Develop and deliver operational, analytical, and ad-hoc reports as required
- Document all configuration, design, and process changes within assigned systems
- Exercise independent judgment in decision-making related to system design and support
Required Technical & Functional Skills :
Functional Systems Expertise :
- Experience with enterprise functional systems (HRIS, Finance, Legal, or similar platforms)
- Strong understanding of functional business processes and workflows
- Configuration and customization of enterprise applications
Technology & Tools :
- Experience with SaaS enterprise platforms (e.g., Workday, SAP, Oracle, ServiceNow, or similar)
- Knowledge of system integrations (APIs, file-based integrations, middleware tools)
- Understanding of data models, data validation, and data governance principles
- Reporting and analytics tools (built-in reporting, SQL, BI tools preferred)
Testing & Support :
- Hands-on experience with system testing, UAT coordination, and defect management
- Familiarity with QA methodologies and documentation standards
- Production support and incident/problem management experience
Process & UX :
- Process mapping, analysis, and redesign skills
- Strong focus on user experience, usability, and system adoption
General Technical Skills :
- Working knowledge of SQL and data analysis
- Experience with ticketing systems and change management processes
- Familiarity with version control and documentation best practices
