Job Summary :

- Responsible for validating product quality by analyzing and testing the quality of the code base.

- Focuses on writing code that will be executed in an automated and repeatable fashion which will reduce manual testing efforts and increase code quality and consistency.

- Develops and maintains code that validates front-end, middleware and database systems, using the latest tools and programming languages.

- Provides input into various software development lifecycle stages.

- Partners with software engineers to write efficient automation code using coding standards and best practices.

- Reports test execution results to senior leadership.

- Repairs complex broken automation scripts and performs peer reviews of automation codebase.

- Integrates knowledge of business and functional priorities.

- Acts as a key contributor in a complex and crucial environment.

- May lead teams or projects and shares expertise.

Job Description :

Core Responsibilities :

- Build new tools to assist in faster test automation and functional testing efforts and innovate on existing automation processes.

- Serve as a guide and mentor for junior-level engineers. Provides technical leadership and consultation with regards to practices, procedures and techniques.

- Review project progress, evaluates results and recommends corrections in technical applications and analysis to executive teams.

- Perform code reviews of automation scripts and front-end codebases.

- Work closely with Test Engineers and Development teams to build test script hooks that help in earlier and easier testing.

- Analyze broken test cases and diagnose and repair to working order.

- Diagnose and repair complex bugs within production code.

- Drive scrum meetings as Scrum Master, perform backlog grooming and sprint planning.

- Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.

- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills & Qualifications :

Engineer 4 Software Development & Engineering (SDET)

Test Automation & Quality Engineering :

- Expert-level experience in automated test development using the same standards as production software engineering.

- Strong hands-on expertise in UI, API, and backend automation frameworks.

- Proven ability to design scalable, reusable, and maintainable automation architectures.

- Experience validating complex systems using database automation and SQL-based test validation.

Programming & Frameworks :

- Advanced proficiency in at least one object-oriented programming language (Java, Python, C#, or similar).

- Strong experience writing SOAP and REST API automation scripts.

- Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design principles.

- Experience debugging and fixing complex production and automation code issues.

DevOps, CI/CD & Tooling :

- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines integrating automated tests.

- Strong working knowledge of version control systems such as Git or SVN.

- Experience building custom test tools and utilities to improve automation efficiency.

- Familiarity with containerization and modern DevOps practices is a plus.

Agile & Delivery Leadership :

- Strong experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

- Ability to act as a Scrum Master, driving sprint planning, backlog grooming, and ceremonies.

- Proven ability to review project progress, assess risks, and recommend technical improvements.

Code Quality & Review :

- Experience performing code reviews for automation frameworks and front-end codebases.

- Strong focus on code quality, test reliability, and performance optimization.

- Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and repair broken or flaky test cases.

Leadership & Mentorship :

- Demonstrated experience mentoring junior and mid-level engineers.

- Ability to provide technical leadership, guidance, and best-practice enforcement.

- Strong collaboration skills across QA, development, and product teams.

Analytical & Communication Skills :

- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities with strong attention to detail.

- Ability to clearly communicate technical findings and recommendations to engineering leadership and executive stakeholders.

- High degree of ownership, accountability, and independent judgment.

Education :

- Bachelor's Degree. While possessing the stated degree is preferred, Comcast also may consider applicants who hold some combination of coursework and experience, or who have extensive related professional experience.
