Role Summary:

The DBA Architect is a senior-level strategic role responsible for the structural integrity, performance, and security of enterprise-scale data environments. This position demands a master of PostgreSQL and SQL Server ecosystems, focusing on building mission-critical architectures that guarantee high availability and rapid disaster recovery.

You will serve as the bridge between infrastructure and development, architecting complex ETL pipelines via SSIS and delivering enterprise-grade business intelligence through SSRS.

As a technical leader, you will be responsible for the entire database lifecycle from initial data modeling and schema design to deep-dive performance tuning and the implementation of rigorous data security policies that ensure regulatory compliance and protect sensitive information.

Responsibilities :

- Database Architecture & Design: Lead the architectural design of scalable, high-availability database solutions using PostgreSQL and Transactional Systems (MySQL/SQL Server) tailored to complex business requirements.

- Performance Engineering: Execute expert-level database tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies to ensure optimal performance for mission-critical applications.

- ETL & Data Integration: Architect and manage sophisticated data integration and extraction processes using SSIS, enabling efficient ETL workflows across diverse enterprise environments.

- Enterprise Reporting: Design and deploy interactive, insightful business intelligence solutions and automated enterprise-level reports using SSRS.

- Disaster Recovery (DR) & Continuity: Design, document, and implement comprehensive Disaster Recovery strategies and failover solutions to minimize operational risk and ensure rapid system recovery.

- Data Security & Compliance: Implement and enforce rigorous data security policies, encryption protocols, and access controls to ensure sensitive information protection and regulatory compliance.

- Migration & Upgrades: Lead complex database migrations, version upgrades, and schema management initiatives, ensuring zero-downtime and data integrity.

- Cloud Database Orchestration: Architect and manage cloud-based database solutions, specifically utilizing AWS RDS or Azure SQL, for hybrid or cloud-native deployments.

- Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve high-stakes database outages, connectivity problems, and hardware-level performance bottlenecks in collaboration with infrastructure teams.

- Technical Leadership: Automate routine administrative processes and provide technical governance over database schemas, tables, and connectivity standards.

Technical Requirements:

- Core Expertise: 10+ years of professional experience in Database Administration and Architecture, with mandatory expertise in PostgreSQL.

- ETL & BI Mastery: Advanced proficiency in SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) and SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) for enterprise reporting.

- Data Modeling: Expert-level skills in data modeling principles, including normalization, de-normalization, and physical schema design.

- Performance Tuning: Proven track record of optimizing complex SQL queries and tuning database engines for high-transaction environments.

- Security & Infrastructure: Deep knowledge of database security best practices, auditing, and enterprise-level protection of sensitive data.

- Cloud Proficiency: Hands-on experience with cloud-hosted database environments like AWS RDS or Azure SQL.

- DR Automation: Mastery of backup/recovery strategies, point-in-time recovery (PITR), and cross-region replication.

Preferred Skills:

- Transactional Systems: Strong expertise in managing other RDBMS like MySQL or SQL Server alongside PostgreSQL.

- Analytical Thinking: Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate business needs and customize database workflows accordingly.

- Leadership & Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to lead cross-functional teams and present technical roadmaps to stakeholders.

- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with global data privacy standards (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.) and their impact on database architecture.

- Automation: Ability to automate maintenance tasks using Shell, Python, or PowerShell scripting.
