DBA Architect PostgreSQL, Performance & Enterprise Compliance

Job Description :

We are seeking an expert-level DBA Architect with 10+ years of extensive experience to join our team in Chennai. This critical role demands a master practitioner in PostgreSQL and database architecture, responsible for designing, building, and governing the performance, reliability, and security of mission-critical database systems. The Architect will drive strategic initiatives in data security, disaster recovery, ETL processes using SSIS, and ensure robust, high-availability solutions are delivered across the enterprise. We are looking for candidates who can join immediately or within a 30-day notice period.

Key Responsibilities :

Database Architecture and Scalability :

- Own the technical architecture and design of core database systems, ensuring optimal scalability, reliability, and high-availability tailored to complex business needs and environments.

- Design, document, and implement scalable, high-availability database solutions that minimize operational risk and guarantee business continuity through rapid system recovery from outages.

- Drive implementation and governance of transactional database systems, with strong expertise in PostgreSQL and knowledge of other platforms like MySQL.

Performance Tuning and Optimization :

- Apply in-depth understanding of database design and performance tuning strategies to ensure robust performance for mission-critical applications.

- Possess a proven capability to design, review, and optimize database schema, tables, complex queries, and indexing strategies for maximum efficiency and speed.

- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve high-severity database issues quickly, collaborating with development and infrastructure teams to maintain optimal operation.

Data Integration and Business Intelligence :

- Demonstrate proficiency in SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) to manage efficient data integration, extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes for complex enterprise environments.

- Be proficient in SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) to design and deploy interactive, enterprise-level, and insightful business intelligence reports.

Security, Governance, and Compliance :

- Design and implement enterprise-level data security policies and controls to ensure sensitive information protection across all databases.

- Apply comprehensive knowledge of data security policies and best practices for protecting sensitive broad enterprise information and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Disaster Recovery and Operational Excellence :

- Architect and implement robust disaster recovery strategies (DR) and solutions to minimize operational risk and ensure business continuity through rapid system recovery.

- Manage and execute database migration, version upgrades, schema management, and troubleshoot complex database connectivity problems.

Stakeholder Collaboration and Leadership :

- Utilize exceptional communication, analytical, and leadership qualities to collaborate effectively with cross-functional technical teams.

- Evaluate business needs, automate processes, and customize database solutions for different workflows to support broader business objectives.

Required Skills :

- 10+ Years of experience as a Database Administrator or Architect.

- Expertise in PostgreSQL and core concepts of Database Architecture is mandatory.

- Deep technical proficiency in SQL and advanced database design principles.

- Extensive hands-on experience in performance tuning, complex query optimization, and resource management.

- Strong proficiency in SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) for ETL process design and management.

- Strong skills in SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) for enterprise reporting solutions.

- Comprehensive knowledge of data security policies, controls, and best practices (e.g., GDPR, compliance standards).

- Proven experience in architecting and implementing Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions and high-availability systems.

Preferred Skills :

- Familiarity with cloud-based database solutions (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, GCP Cloud SQL).

- Strong expertise in managing large-scale transactional database environments.

- Certification in PostgreSQL or relevant cloud database technologies.

- Experience with database migration and version upgrade projects.
