Detailed Job Description - Mainframe IMS DBA

- Resource with 8+ years experience and has at least 5 years experience in IMS v15, 16 on z/OS Database Administration.

- Candidate should possess strong knowledge on IMS v16 Database Administration.

- Requires 7x24 support experience in a large production environment.

- Excellent Verbal and written communication skills.

- Good interpersonal Skills.

- The candidate should have worked in a SLA driven environment.

- Ability to work in a flexible, team-oriented and constantly changing environment

Skills Required :

- Experience in IMS on z/OS administration.

- IMS database design and database alteration and Migration.

- Experience in creation of DBDs, PSBs, ACBs

- DASD/Tape management.

- Knowledge on IMS upgradation / Migration

- Capacity Planning.

- Experience in Performance Tuning.

- Strong Knowledge on IMS Utilities.

- Experience with High Availability Large Database (HALDB)

- Experience with IMS Debugging

- Excellent performance tuning skills and tools (exp : Tivoli, Omegamons, Query Manager, Transaction Analysis Workbench, BMC Performance Management Suite, IBM Application Performance Analyzer)

- Experience in database initialization, forward recovery & building secondary index and pointer checker, checkpoint restart, Fast path, DEDB etc

- Strong Knowledge of Troubleshooting skills on IMS administration.

- Proactive monitoring in space usage and troubleshooting space management.

- IMS application users management.

- IMS Batch job monitoring and troubleshooting.

- Security Management

- IMS Backup & recovery

- Exposure in Disaster Recovery.

- 7x24 support experience in a large production environment.

- Space Management

- Experience in IMS Tools (BMC, IBM HP Load, TMON IMS, Fileaid for IMS,..)

- Basic Knowledge on IMS System programming

- Should have worked in a SLA driven environment.

- Knowledge on IMS database decommissioning

- Basic knowledge on VSAM, CICS.
