Job Title : Mid-Level COBOL Developer

Role Overview :

We are seeking an experienced COBOL Developer to support mainframe application development, enhancements, maintenance, and production stability.

The role requires strong technical expertise in COBOL and mainframe tools, along with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams for seamless delivery.

Key Responsibilities :

- Develop, enhance, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, and VSAM.

- Perform detailed analysis, coding, unit testing, and documentation for new features and change requests.

- Provide production support by troubleshooting issues and ensuring smooth batch and job execution.

- Analyze batch failures, system defects, and performance issues and implement corrective actions.

- Coordinate with QA, business analysts, and cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality releases.

- Participate in requirement discussions, impact analysis, and technical reviews.

- Optimize existing code for performance, maintainability, and reliability.

- Support data migration, job scheduling, and integration activities as required.

- Ensure adherence to coding standards, security guidelines, and change management processes.

- Contribute to modernization or migration initiatives when applicable.

Skillsets Required :

- Strong hands-on experience with COBOL, JCL, and VSAM.

- Knowledge of DB2/IMS DB and transactional processing using CICS.

- Familiarity with mainframe utilities such as IDCAMS, SORT, File-Aid.

- Experience using debugging tools like Abend-AID, Expeditor, or InterTest.

- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.

- Understanding of SDLC processes, mainframe change management, and versioning tools.

- Exposure to scheduler tools such as Control-M or CA-7 is an advantage.

- Working knowledge of Endevor or Changeman is beneficial.

- Good communication skills and ability to coordinate with stakeholders.

- Knowledge of mainframe modernization or migration programs is a plus.
