Job Description

Role Summary :

We are seeking an accomplished, visionary leader to establish and drive our Healthcare Interoperability Capability within our Organization. This is a pivotal role responsible for supporting and shaping our enterprise-wide capabilities, and delivering innovative, standard-driven interoperability solutions.

The ideal candidate must possess deep, verifiable Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in healthcare interoperability standards, a proven ability to think strategically yet act hands-on, and a high comfort level in translating abstract business challenges into concrete, scalable technical solutions. This role requires a high degree of self-drive, initiative, and exceptional cross-functional collaboration skills.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Strategy & Vision Leadership :

- 1. Define and champion the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Interoperability COE, aligning capabilities with the Enterprise digital transformation goals.

- 2. Function as the thought leader and chief architect, translating ambiguous business requirements and market trends into clear, strategic priorities and actionable execution plans.

- 3. Monitor emerging industry standards (e.g., FHIR, API-driven architectures) and regulatory developments (e.g., US Cures Act, GDPR), ensuring the COE remains at the forefront of global interoperability.

2. Deep Subject Matter Expertise (SME) :

- 1. Provide deep definitive Subject Matter Expertise across core healthcare interoperability standards and terminologies FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources), HL7 (v2, v3, CDA), X12/EDI (Claims, Enrollment, Eligibility), and other standards/resources.

- 2. Oversee the design, architecture, and implementation of secure, scalable, and compliant data exchange solutions for clinical, claims, and administrative data domains.

3. Payer and Provider Solution Delivery :

- 1. Lead the development and delivery of end-to-end interoperability solutions specifically tailored for Healthcare Payers (e.g., claims data integration, member access) and Healthcare Providers (e.g., EHR integration, clinical data exchange).

- 2. Drive proofs of concept (POCs), reference architectures, and solution accelerators to rapidly deploy standards-based solutions.

4. Collaboration & Capability Building :

- 1. Serve as the primary liaison, fostering strong collaborative relationships with product teams, engineering, operations, and external partners.

- 2. Demonstrate strong self-drive and initiative, anticipating needs, proactively resolving roadblocks, and serving as the bridge between technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- 3. Mentor and develop a high-performing team of interoperability experts, establishing governance frameworks, KPIs, and best practices for capability delivery and adoption.

Qualifications & Experience :

- Experience : 15+ years in healthcare technology, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role focused on data integration and interoperability.

- Payer/Provider Experience : Proven, successful experience in implementing FHIR-, HL7-, and EDI-based solutions in both Payer and Provider environments.

- Technical SME : Exceptional, verifiable deep SME in the specified standards (FHIR, HL7, EDI, SNOMED CT, LOINC).

- Leadership : Proven record of thinking strategically (setting long-term direction) while maintaining the ability to act on the ground (personally driving critical-path deliverables).

- Mindset : Demonstrated ability to thrive with abstract or incomplete information, rapidly structuring it to develop a clear, strategic path forward.

- Communication : Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; able to articulate complex technical and strategic concepts to executive and highly technical audiences.

- Education : Graduate or post-graduate degree in Computer Science, Health, or a related discipline.

Desired Attributes :

- Experience setting up or scaling a COE or similar capability from the ground up.

- Relevant industry certification (e.g., Certified FHIR Professional).

- Familiarity with cloud-based interoperability platforms (e.g., Azure Health Data Services, AWS HealthLake, Google Cloud Healthcare API).
