Job Description

Role : Senior Full Stack Developer

Purpose :

To design, build, and operate scalable, high-performance backend services and modern web applications that power CIMET's digital comparison and signup platform. This role owns the full stack from RESTful and GraphQL APIs and Node.js microservices on the backend to React, Next.js, Remix, and Keystone-powered frontends while embracing AI-native development practices to accelerate delivery, improve code quality, and drive engineering productivity. The developer will help evolve CIMET's platform into a highly scalable, modular, and intelligent SaaS ecosystem supporting multiple products, partners, and geographies.

Key Responsibilities

1. Backend Platform Development :

- Design and develop scalable backend services and microservices using Node.js

- Build high-performance RESTful and GraphQL APIs for internal systems, partner integrations, and customer-facing applications

- Design API contracts and data models to support both REST and GraphQL consumers across internal and external integrations

- Develop distributed systems ensuring high availability, fault tolerance, and reliability

- Implement secure authentication, authorization (JWT / OAuth2), and data protection

- Optimise backend performance, query execution, and data access patterns

2. Frontend & Full Stack Development :

- Build modern, responsive web applications using React.js, Next.js, Remix, and Keystone

- Implement server-side rendering (SSR), static site generation (SSG), and edge rendering for optimal performance

- Develop and maintain content management and data-modelling layers using Keystone CMS

- Ensure seamless integration between frontend interfaces and backend GraphQL / REST services

- Optimise Core Web Vitals, UX performance, and cross-browser/device responsiveness

3. AI-Native Development & Engineering Productivity :

- Leverage AI-assisted development tools including Cursor AI, Claude Code, and GitHub Copilot as a core part of daily workflows

- Apply AI-augmented practices for code generation, debugging, refactoring, and documentation

- Contribute to the development of AI-enabled product features such as intelligent recommendations and workflow automation

- Collaborate with architects to integrate LLM-powered services and AI APIs into the platform

4. Database Design & Data Management :

- Design and manage relational data models in PostgreSQL, including schema design, migrations, indexing, and query optimisation

- Work with MongoDB for flexible document-oriented data storage and aggregation pipelines

- Implement and maintain Elasticsearch for full-text search, filtering, and analytics across platform data

- Ensure data integrity, performance, and security across all database layers

5. Infrastructure, DevOps Collaboration & Cloud :

- Familiar with Docker and Kubernetes; able to containerise services and work closely with the DevOps team on cluster configuration and scaling

- Familiar with CI/CD pipelines via GitHub Actions and Jenkins; able to contribute to and troubleshoot automated build and deployment workflows

- Support event-driven architecture patterns using Kafka or RabbitMQ

- Implement distributed tracing, structured logging, alerting, and resilience patterns in production

- Collaborate with DevOps on cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP) including serverless functions and managed services

6. Collaboration & Technical Leadership :

- Participate actively in design reviews, architecture discussions, and sprint ceremonies

- Conduct code reviews and provide constructive technical mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers

- Champion engineering best practices around testing, scalability, security, and maintainability

- Partner with Product, DevOps, and Data teams to deliver high-quality platform capabilities on time

Frontend :

- React.js component-driven UI development

DevOps & Infrastructure (Familiarity Expected) :

- Docker & Kubernetes familiarity with containerisation and orchestration to collaborate effectively with the DevOps team

- GitHub Actions familiarity with CI/CD automation and testing pipelines

- Jenkins familiarity with build and deployment pipelines

- Cloud platforms : AWS / Azure / GCP

Experience & Skills :

Core Engineering :

- 5+ years of experience in full stack software development

- Strong expertise in Node.js backend development and microservices architecture

- Production experience with RESTful API design and GraphQL (schema design, resolvers, DataLoader, subscriptions)

- Proficiency in React.js with experience in at least two of : Next.js, Remix, or Keystone

- Strong command of TypeScript across both frontend and backend codebases

- Solid understanding of distributed systems, event-driven patterns, and API design principles

Databases :

- Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL including schema design, query optimisation, and migrations

- Experience with MongoDB for document storage and aggregation

- Familiarity with Elasticsearch for search indexing, mappings, and querying

DevOps & Tooling (Familiarity Expected) :

- Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes to work effectively alongside the DevOps team on containerised deployments

- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and Jenkins; able to contribute to and navigate existing pipeline configurations

- Proficiency with Git and collaborative branching strategies (Git Flow / trunk-based)

- Basic familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) sufficient to deploy and monitor services alongside the DevOps team

AI Development Skills :

- Experience using AI-assisted coding platforms such as Cursor AI, Claude Code, or GitHub Copilot as part of day-to-day engineering

- Ability to leverage AI tools for code generation, debugging, refactoring, and documentation

- Working knowledge of Large Language Models (LLMs) and their practical application in software products

- Familiarity with prompt engineering and AI-driven development workflows

Preferred Qualifications :

- Experience with event-driven architecture using Kafka or RabbitMQ

- Experience with gRPC or additional API transport protocols

- Knowledge of serverless architectures and edge computing

- Experience with testing frameworks such as Jest, Mocha, Vitest, or Playwright

- Exposure to AI APIs or LLM integrations (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.)

- Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to team growth

Professional Qualifications :

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
