Role : Chief Agentic Architect

We are looking for a Chief Agentic Architect to transform a 8+ year legacy codebase into a modern, high-velocity, agent-operable architecture.

The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in backend system architecture, object-oriented design, API development, distributed systems, and legacy modernization, while remaining hands-on with software development.

Key Responsibilities :

- Lead the modernization of a 8+ year legacy codebase into a scalable, modular, and agent-operable architecture.

- Design and implement backend system architectures with clear boundaries, reusable components, and strong separation of responsibilities.

- Build APIs from scratch, defining API contracts, service interfaces, integration patterns, and data flows.

- Apply strong object-oriented design principles and design patterns to create maintainable and extensible systems.

- Break down complex legacy applications into modular services and modern components.

- Drive architectural decisions around scalability, reliability, performance, security, and maintainability.

- Remain hands-on with coding and contribute directly to critical backend development and modernization initiatives.

- Design distributed systems and backend services that can support AI-assisted and agentic engineering workflows.

- Evaluate and integrate Agentic AI, MCP, LLM tooling, and AI-assisted development where they provide meaningful engineering value.

- Establish clean-code practices, architectural standards, coding guidelines, and engineering best practices.

- Review existing systems, identify technical debt, and define practical modernization strategies.

- Lead technical design discussions, architecture reviews, and implementation decisions.

- Collaborate with engineering, product, platform, and technical leadership teams to translate business requirements into scalable solutions.

- Provide technical leadership and mentorship while maintaining a strong hands-on engineering contribution.

- Ensure systems are deterministic, testable, production-ready, and suitable for long-term evolution.

Required Skills :

- 8+ years of experience in software architecture, backend engineering, platform engineering, or technical leadership.

- Proven experience modernizing large, complex, and undocumented legacy systems.

- Strong hands-on experience in backend system architecture and software development.

- Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and clean-code principles.

- Proven experience building APIs from scratch and designing API-first backend systems.

- Strong experience with distributed systems, modular architectures, microservices, and system integration.

- Strong programming experience in one or more modern programming languages, with the flexibility to work across different languages and technology stacks.

- Practical experience with Agentic AI, MCP, LLM tooling, or AI-assisted software engineering.

- Strong architectural problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions in complex technical environments.

- Strong communication and technical leadership skills.

Good to Have :

- Experience working with TypeScript, .NET, or Node.js.

- Experience with remote-first or globally distributed engineering teams.

- Background in SaaS transformations, scale-ups, or PE-backed environments.

- Experience working in high-ambiguity, high-ownership environments.

- Experience designing systems specifically for AI-assisted or agent-operated development
