Job Title : L2 Storage Engineer.

Location : Chennai/Bangalore.

Job Type : Full Time.

Key Roles & Responsibilities :

- Storage System Design and Implementation.

- Develop and maintain the organization's storage strategy, aligning with business requirements and IT objectives.

- Contribute to the development of disaster recovery and business continuity plans related to storage infrastructure.

- Define and enforce storage standards, policies, and best practices.

- Design, implementation, Configuration, and Administration of mission critical Fiber Channel Storage Systems (NetApp, Dell, Pure, Cisco and Brocade San Storage).

- Lead the implementation and configuration of new storage systems and expansions.

- Plan and execute data migrations and storage upgrades with minimal disruption.

- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for storage configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting.

Management and Maintenance :

- Proactively monitor storage infrastructure performance, capacity, and availability.

- Perform regular health checks, performance tuning, and capacity planning.

- Troubleshoot and resolve complex storage-related issues, ensuring timely resolution and minimal downtime.

- Manage storage provisioning, allocation, and reclamation processes.

- Implement and manage data protection strategies, including backups, replication, and archiving.

- Administer and maintain storage management tools and platforms.

- Work closely with virtualization team to recommend and implement best practices around storage deployments .

- Implement and maintain storage security best practices, including access controls, encryption, and vulnerability management.

- Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations and internal policies related to data storage.

- Participate in security audits and address any identified vulnerabilities.

Automation and Optimization :

- Identify opportunities for automation of storage-related tasks and implement scripting or tools to improve efficiency.

- Continuously evaluate and optimize storage infrastructure for performance, cost-effectiveness, and resource utilization.

- Create Perl and Bash scripts to automate various storage administration tasks.

Technical Skills and Competencies :

Required :

- Expertise in SAN/NAS technologies (e.g., Fibre Channel, iSCSI, NFS, CIFS/SMB).

- Proficiency in storage platforms like NetApp, EMC Unity/PMAX, Pure Storage and IBM Storwize.

- Strong knowledge of backup and recovery technologies.

- Experience with cloud storage (AWS S3/EBS, Azure Blob, etc.).

- Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware vSphere, Hyper-V,OpenStack).

- Proficiency with storage area networks (SAN), storage virtualization, data replication, and clustered storage systems such as NetApp ONTAP.

- Strong knowledge of storage networking protocols and integration with virtualization and cloud platforms.

- Design, Implementation, Configuration, and Administration of mission critical platforms OpenStack, OpenShift and cloud-based solutions.

- Proficiency in NetApp's ONTAP storage platform, including its architecture, configuration, management and in-depth troubleshooting knowledge.

Troubleshooting and Support :

- Provide support for storage-related issues, including debugging and resolving hardware and software problems.

- Develop and maintain documentation for troubleshooting procedures and best practices.

- Demonstrates mastery of English communication, both written and verbal, alongside exceptional interpersonal skills that facilitate strong working relationships.

- Drive effective collaboration and teamwork across diverse engineering teams to achieve shared goals.

Ability to Thrive in a Dynamic Support Environment :

- Exhibits the flexibility and commitment required to work in a 24/7 support model, including rotational shifts and on-call responsibilities.

Qualifications :

- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.

- Experience (5+) in managing enterprise storage systems, including expertise in NetApp, EMC, PURE Storage, Brocade SAN, Cisco SAN Fabric, or similar technologies.

- Relevant certifications such as NetApp Certified Implementation Engineer (NCIE), NetApp Certified Data Administrator, Dell EMC Proven Professional, CompTIA Storage+, or similar are highly desirable.
