Capco - Principal Java Consultant - Spring Frameworks

We are looking for an experienced Principal Java Consultant to lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable, high-performance enterprise applications.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Java-based application development, enterprise architecture, microservices, and cloud-native technologies, along with the ability to provide technical leadership and drive engineering best practices.

The role involves collaborating with business stakeholders, architects, and engineering teams to translate complex business requirements into robust technical solutions while ensuring application performance, security, scalability, and maintainability.

Key Responsibilities :

- Lead the design, development, and implementation of enterprise-grade applications using Java and related technologies.

- Define and implement scalable application architectures using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices.

- Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams on architecture, coding standards, design patterns, and engineering best practices.

- Design and develop RESTful APIs and integrate applications with internal and external systems.

- Evaluate technical requirements, identify suitable solutions, and recommend appropriate technologies and architectural approaches.

- Drive the modernization of legacy applications and support migration toward microservices-based and cloud-native architectures.

- Ensure application performance, scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability through effective design and implementation.

- Conduct code reviews, troubleshoot complex technical issues, and resolve performance bottlenecks.

- Collaborate with product managers, business analysts, architects, QA engineers, and DevOps teams to ensure successful delivery.

- Establish and promote best practices for unit testing, integration testing, continuous integration, and continuous deployment.

- Mentor senior developers and engineers, fostering technical excellence and continuous learning.

- Participate in technical discussions, solution design workshops, and architecture reviews with stakeholders.

- Identify opportunities for automation, process improvement, and optimization of software development practices.

- Ensure compliance with enterprise security standards, coding guidelines, and software development methodologies.

Required Skills and Qualifications :

- 10 - 15 years of experience in software development, with substantial expertise in Java-based enterprise application development.

- Strong proficiency in Java, object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.

- Extensive experience with Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and related Java development frameworks.

- Strong understanding of microservices architecture, distributed systems, and service-oriented architecture.

- Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and integrating enterprise applications.

- Good knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle, including query optimization.

- Experience with messaging and event-driven technologies such as Apache Kafka or RabbitMQ.

- Familiarity with application security principles, authentication, authorization, and secure coding practices.

- Experience with unit testing and automated testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito.

- Knowledge of version control systems such as Git and build tools such as Maven or Gradle.

- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and software delivery practices.

- Strong debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management abilities.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

- Exposure to infrastructure automation, monitoring, logging, and application observability tools.

- Experience with system design, high availability, fault tolerance, and performance optimization.

- Understanding of Agile methodologies and enterprise software delivery practices.

- Experience contributing to technical roadmaps, architecture standards, and engineering transformation initiatives.

Education :

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
