Knowledge/ Skill Requirement.
TAC Engineer is responsible for ensuring that enterprise-level customers have a positive experience with their switch and router networking services.
Work to address customer issues, identify areas for improvement, and provide guidance and support to customers as needed.
Key Responsibilities :
- Deliver Level 2 / Level 3 technical support for enterprise switching products and related solutions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to Layer 2 (L2) and Layer 3 (L3) protocols and features.
- Diagnose and analyze problems related to VLANs, STP, MSTP, RSTP, Trunking, Link Aggregation (LACP), and Port Security.
- Handle routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP, RIP, EIGRP, and static routing.
- Provide technical assistance for Multicast, QoS, MPLS, VXLAN, and EVPN configurations and troubleshooting.
- Analyze packet captures, logs, and configuration files to determine root cause and provide resolution or workaround.
- Replicate customer issues in a lab environment to validate fixes or reproduce bugs.
- Collaborate with R&D, QA, and Product Management teams for escalation and bug tracking.
- Create and maintain detailed Knowledge Base (KB) articles, documentation, and troubleshooting guides.
- Participate in on-call rotation to provide 24x7 customer support when required.
- Ensure customer satisfaction through timely updates, proactive communication, and professional engagement.
Required Skills & Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 5 - 8 years of experience in technical support or TAC roles, focusing on switching technologies.
- Strong understanding of L2/L3 networking concepts, architectures, and protocols.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise-class switches and routers from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, Arista, HPE, Extreme, or Huawei.
- Proficiency with network troubleshooting tools (Wireshark, ping, traceroute, SNMP analyzers, etc.).
- Sound knowledge of network management protocols (SNMP, Syslog, NetFlow).
- Experience with stacking, redundancy, and high availability features (HSRP, VRRP, GLBP).
- Strong command over TCP/IP, VLAN design, spanning-tree optimization, and routing fundamentals.
- Excellent analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication abilities.
Preferred Skills :
- Certifications such as CCNP / CCIE (R&S or Enterprise), JNCIP, or equivalent vendor certifications.
- Exposure to Data Center switching technologies like VxLAN, EVPN, and Fabric architectures.
- Familiarity with Network Automation / Python scripting / REST APIs for diagnostics or configuration.
- Experience supporting cloud-managed or SDN-based switching solutions.
- Knowledge of network virtualization and overlay-underlay integrations.
