We are looking for a WordPress Engineer to manage and evolve our WordPress infrastructure. You will be responsible for backend development, optimization, custom plugin and theme creation, and system-level integration. While a dedicated design team handles page-building and UI, your role focuses on performance, structure, and backend logic. Experience with frontend frameworks and some exposure to Express.js is desirable.
Key Responsibilities :
- Build and maintain secure, scalable, and high-performance WordPress sites.
- Develop and customize themes and plugins to meet business needs.
- Implement and manage advanced form functionality and integrations.
- Optimize site performance (database queries, caching, asset delivery, etc.).
- Ensure code quality, reusability, and proper documentation.
- Support the design team by enabling backend functionalities for pages they build.
- Integrate third-party APIs and Express.js-based services where needed.
- Manage site deployments, staging environments, and production releases.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across plugins, integrations, and code.
Core Skills & Experience :
- Deep expertise in WordPress backend development, hooks, filters, and architecture.
- Strong experience with custom plugin and theme development.
- Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery.
- Hands-on experience with Bootstrap and frontend frameworks.
- Familiar with page builders like Elementor or WP Bakery (for integration purposes).
- Experience with form tools (HubSpot Forms, WP Forms, Contact Form 7, etc.).
- Experience with REST API, AJAX, and JSON.
- Competent with Git and structured deployment processes.
Nice to Have :
- Basic DevOps knowledge (e.g., CI/CD, server tuning, cloud hosting).
- Knowledge of WordPress security best practices.
- Experience with headless or decoupled WordPress environments.
- SEO integration (technical level only, not content).
- Familiarity with basic Express.js and backend API consumption.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
- 25 years of experience as a WordPress Engineer or similar technical role.
