Telecom Business Analyst

Department : Business Analysis / Telecom Operations

Position Summary :

We are seeking an experienced Telecom Business Analyst with deep domain knowledge of telecommunications systems, processes, and technologies. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between business stakeholders and technical teams, analyzing complex telecom requirements, designing solutions, and driving digital transformation initiatives within the telecommunications sector. This role requires a strong understanding of telecom operations, network infrastructure, billing systems, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities :

- Analyze and document business requirements for telecom systems including OSS, BSS, network management, billing, provisioning, and customer care platforms

- Collaborate with network engineers, product managers, and IT teams to design and implement telecom solutions that align with business objectives

- Develop comprehensive business cases, feasibility studies, and cost-benefit analyses for telecom initiatives and technology investments

- Create detailed functional specifications, process flows, use cases, and user stories for telecom applications and system enhancements

- Conduct gap analysis between current and desired telecom capabilities, identifying opportunities for process improvement and automation

- Facilitate workshops and requirements gathering sessions with diverse stakeholders including technical teams, operations, sales, and customer service

- Ensure compliance with telecom industry regulations, standards, and best practices including GDPR, TCPA, and local regulatory requirements

- Support testing activities including UAT coordination, test case creation, defect tracking, and validation of telecom system implementations

- Analyze telecom data, KPIs, and metrics to provide insights on network performance, customer experience, revenue assurance, and operational efficiency

- Partner with vendors and third-party providers for telecom solution evaluation, RFP processes, and system integration projects

- Document telecom business processes, workflows, and system configurations to maintain knowledge repositories and support training initiatives

- Stay current with emerging telecom technologies including 5G, IoT, cloud communications, SDN/NFV, and digital transformation trends

Required Qualifications :

- Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field

- 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in the telecommunications industry

- Deep understanding of telecom domain including wireless, wireline, broadband, VoIP, and carrier operations

- Strong knowledge of telecom OSS/BSS systems such as billing platforms, CRM, order management, provisioning, and inventory management

- Experience with network technologies including LTE, 5G, fiber optics, MPLS, VPN, and network protocols

- Proficiency in requirements elicitation techniques, process modeling, and business analysis frameworks (BABOK)

- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools like Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps

- Strong analytical skills with experience in data analysis, reporting, and visualization tools

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences

- Proven track record of successfully delivering complex telecom projects on time and within budget

Preferred Qualifications :


- Master's degree in related field or MBA

- Professional certifications such as CBAP, CCBA, PMI-PBA, or telecom-specific certifications

- Experience with major telecom platforms like Amdocs, Oracle BRM, Ericsson, Netcracker, or CSG International

- Knowledge of TM Forum Frameworx (eTOM, SID, TAM) and telecom industry standards

- Hands-on experience with 5G network architecture, edge computing, or network slicing concepts

- Background in telecommunications revenue assurance, fraud management, or interconnect billing

- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud-native telecom solutions

- Familiarity with API integration, microservices architecture, and DevOps practices

- Understanding of telecom regulatory environment and compliance requirements across different markets

- Business Analysis Tools : Visio, Lucidchart, Enterprise Architect, Balsamiq, Axure

- Project Management : Jira, Confluence, MS Project, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow

- Data Analysis : SQL, Excel, Power BI, Tableau, Python (basic), R (basic)

- Documentation : MS Office Suite, SharePoint, Confluence, DOORS

- Telecom Protocols : SIP, Diameter, SS7, RADIUS, SNMP, HTTP/REST APIs

- Network Technologies : TCP/IP, VoIP, MPLS, SD-WAN, NFV, SDN concepts
