The Role :

As a BDC Clearing Lead, you will lead a small but highly impactful engineering team focused on building and enhancing Broker-Dealer Clearing and Settlement platforms. You will work closely with global engineering teams, operations, product managers, and business stakeholders to solve complex post-trade processing challenges across the trade lifecycle.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will drive technical design, mentor a small team of engineers, and contribute directly to architecture and development. You will help design scalable, resilient systems that process large volumes of trades while ensuring operational accuracy, regulatory compliance, and real-time visibility into clearing workflows.

You will tackle non-trivial distributed systems problems involving trade processing, allocations, settlements, reconciliations, margin workflows, and operational automation in a modern cloud-native environment.

The Team :

Our Broker-Dealer Clearing (BDC) team builds mission-critical systems that power post-trade operations for sophisticated market participants. The team is responsible for developing scalable clearing and settlement platforms capable of handling millions of transactions daily with high reliability and operational transparency.

The Bengaluru engineering team works closely with global stakeholders and plays a key role in expanding our clearing platform capabilities. As part of the team, you will collaborate with highly talented engineers and domain experts who are passionate about modernizing financial infrastructure through technology.

Responsibilities :

- Lead and mentor a team focused on BDC Clearing platform development

- Design and develop scalable backend services using Java and modern distributed system principles

- Build and enhance systems supporting clearing, settlement, reconciliation, and post-trade workflows

- Partner with product managers, operations teams, and stakeholders to deliver business-critical solutions

- Drive system design discussions and establish engineering best practices within the team

- Improve platform resiliency, observability, performance, and operational automation

- Contribute hands-on to coding, code reviews, debugging, and production support

- Collaborate with global engineering teams on platform modernization initiatives

- Help evolve the architecture toward cloud-native and event-driven systems

Requirements:

- 10 to 18 years of professional experience in backend software development with strong expertise in Java

- Strong understanding of Broker-Dealer Clearing (BDC), clearing & settlement, and post-trade processing workflows

- Experience working with Capital Markets, Brokerage, Prime Brokerage, or Trading platforms

- Experience leading or mentoring small engineering teams

- Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and scalable backend design

- Hands-on experience with Spring Boot, Kafka, SQL, and event-driven architectures

- Strong command over system design, multithreading, data structures, algorithms, and design patterns

- Experience building high-throughput, highly available systems handling large-scale transaction processing

- Ability to communicate technical ideas effectively and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders

- Strong ownership mindset with the ability to drive initiatives independently

Preferred Qualifications :

- Experience working with clearing houses such as NSCC, OCC, DTCC, CME, LCH, Eurex, or similar market infrastructure

- Exposure to AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-native deployments

- Experience with real-time risk, margin, or regulatory reporting systems

- Exposure to Go, Python, or TypeScript is a plus

- Prior experience in modernizing legacy clearing or settlement platforms is preferred
