- The Backup Operations Specialist is responsible for managing, monitoring, and maintaining the backup and recovery infrastructure.
- This role ensures the integrity and availability of data backups across multiple systems, including databases, file servers, and virtual environments.
- Manage, maintain and operate data backup solutions including veritas appliances, tapes, cloud buckets.
- Familiarity with storage technologies (e.g., SAN, NAS, cloud storage).
- Utilize automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Ansible) to reduce manual intervention and improve operational efficiency.
- Automate routine backup tasks such as data verification, cleanup of old backups, and alerting for failure events.
- Perform periodic backups, restores, and tests to validate backup processes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to backup software, storage devices, and backup jobs.
- Ensure that data backups are performed in compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standards.
- Manage and maintain IRE solution, malware scanner definition, SLPs.
- Configuring reports in IT Analytics reporting tool.
- Vulnerability fix for backup and reporting solution.
- Configure and operate backup software, client agents, backup jobs and Flex appliance for new backup requirements.
- Master, media, client server backup solution upgrade and appliance firmware upgrade.
- Perform storage performance analysis and troubleshoot backup related performance/capacity issues with other teams (OS, Network, Database, etc).
- Extract and prepare data needed for audit reporting and dashboard (capacity planning, health checks, compliance).
- Responds to and resolve alerts from monitoring management system.
- Respond to and own L1/L2 escalations.
- Document, review, maintain and share technical information and write-up (SOP) as a part of Knowledge Management.
