What You'll Do :

- Design, build, test, and deploy scalable backend features and services with minimal supervision.

- Work with Ruby/Rails, Go, or other modern backend technologies, with the ability to learn new technologies quickly.

- Build reliable and maintainable APIs, background jobs, integrations, and backend services.

- Design and optimize data models, database schemas, migrations, indexes, queries, caching, and asynchronous workflows.

- Write high-quality automated tests across unit, integration, contract, and end-to-end layers.

- Participate in code and design reviews, ensuring strong standards for security, performance, reliability, and maintainability.

- Debug and resolve issues across development, CI/CD, deployment, and production environments.

- Identify technical debt, architectural bottlenecks, and operational risks, and drive practical improvements.

- Take ownership of production systems, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and on-call responsibilities where applicable.

- Integrate AI effectively into your engineering workflow while maintaining high standards for code quality and correctness.

What You'll Bring :

- Strong professional experience building and operating production-grade backend applications.

- Solid fundamentals in software engineering, API design, databases, testing, debugging, scalability, and performance optimization.

- Experience with Ruby/Rails, Go, or another modern backend language.

- Proven ability to independently take a feature from problem definition - design - implementation - deployment - improvement.

- Strong engineering judgment across security, reliability, performance, maintainability, and operational risk.

- Understanding of modular architecture, service boundaries, coupling, and distributed-system trade-offs.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in a remote and asynchronous environment.

- Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools, with the ability to review, validate, and correct generated code.

Nice to Have :

- Go: Production services, concurrency, profiling, performance optimization, or gRPC.

- Cloud & DevOps: Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure.

- Rust: Experience in systems, security, performance, or platform engineering.

- Data & Infrastructure: PostgreSQL, schema evolution, caching, queues, messaging, and event-driven architectures.

- Observability: Metrics, structured logging, distributed tracing, dashboards, and alerting.
