About the Role :

We are looking for a Backend Software Engineer with strong Core Java expertise to build and maintain scalable, business-critical backend systems.

This role is ideal for engineers who combine strong Java fundamentals and backend engineering depth with modern AI-assisted development practices. You should be comfortable owning production components, solving complex problems, and using AI coding assistants to ship high-quality software faster.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design and implement moderately complex backend features with minimal supervision.

- Contribute to system design and architecture discussions and influence technical decisions.

- Own business-critical production components, including connectors, customer escalations, security fixes, bug fixes, and new feature development.

- Use AI coding assistants such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar tools for scaffolding, testing, code reviews, debugging, and development acceleration.

- Decompose engineering problems and create effective prompts to get high-quality output from AI tools.

- Critically review AI-generated code for correctness, security, performance, maintainability, and adherence to engineering standards.

- Debug production issues efficiently and develop well-reasoned, scalable solutions.

- Build and maintain backend services capable of handling high-volume data and events across multiple customers.

Mandatory Requirements :

- Strong and current Core Java expertise with excellent programming fundamentals.

- Strong backend engineering fundamentals with experience building scalable systems.

- Hands-on experience with microservices architecture.

- Ability to independently design and implement moderately complex features.

- Experience contributing to system design and architecture discussions.

- Experience owning production-critical backend components and handling customer escalations, bugs, security fixes, and feature development.

- Demonstrated daily use of AI coding assistants such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or equivalent.

- Ability to write precise prompts, break down engineering tasks for AI assistance, and evaluate AI-generated code critically before production use.

- Must have experience working in a product company, including B2B SaaS or B2C product environments.

Contract & Location :

- Contract Duration : 3 months

- Joining : Immediate joiners preferred; onboarding required within approximately 1 week

- Candidates must be based in or near Chennai, Bangalore, or Ahmedabad.

- Chennai : Hybrid working model - Tuesday & Thursday from office.

- Candidates must be comfortable with the contract engagement.

Good to Have :

- Hands-on Python experience.

- Production experience with database/JDBC integrations.

- Experience working with high-volume event/data processing systems.
