Role Overview :

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Core Java Backend Developer to join the engineering team at CME Group in Bangalore. This is a "Pure Backend" engineering role focused on the heart of CME's high-frequency trading and matching systems. You will not be building user interfaces; instead, your primary mandate will be writing highly concurrent, multi-threaded Java code designed for extreme throughput and low latency.

You will take true ownership of your project deliverablesfrom architectural design to solving complex production challenges. We are looking for engineers who do not just rely on frameworks, but deeply understand JVM internals, memory management, and how to optimize SQL queries beyond basic ORM usage.

Key Responsibilities (Ownership Expectations) :

- System Ownership : Take full responsibility for specific backend modules. You must be able to describe the architecture, the code you wrote, the production-level challenges you faced, and how you delivered your specific piece of the platform.

- High-Performance Code : Design and develop highly concurrent, multi-threaded applications using Core Java (Java 8 to 17). Handle performance optimization in high-traffic, low-latency environments.

- API & Microservices Architecture : Build end-to-end REST APIs and microservices from scratch using Spring Boot and Spring Data JPA.

- Database Optimization : Write complex SQL queries (including aggregations) and optimize database performance natively, without relying purely on ORMs like Hibernate.

- Mentorship & Collaboration : Mentor junior developers on deliverables and collaborate across teams to solve complex scenario-based architectural problems.

Mandatory Requirements & Logistics :

- Experience : Strictly 5+ years of total professional experience.

- Profile Constraint : Candidates must have worked as a "Pure Backend Developer" for their entire work experience. Frontend-heavy or Full-Stack profiles will be immediately rejected.

- Notice Period : Maximum 21 days (Strictly enforced).

- Location : Bangalore (Hybrid - 3 days per week from the office).

Technical Skill Depth Requirements :

1. Core Java (Java 8 to 17) & Collections : OWNERSHIP level required. Must have hands-on experience using modern features like Streams/Lambdas in recent projects.

2. Multi-threading & Concurrency : OWNERSHIP level required. Clear experience writing multi-threaded code and handling performance

3. Spring Boot & Spring Data JPA : HANDS-ON level required.

4. SQL Fundamentals : HANDS-ON level required.

5. Microservices Architecture : EXPOSURE required (e.g., breaking down monoliths, service discovery/Eureka).

6. CI/CD, Docker & Kubernetes : EXPOSURE required.
