Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced AKS Deployment & Kubernetes Administrator with strong hands-on expertise in Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Kubernetes cluster administration, and modern DevOps/GitOps practices.
The role involves designing, deploying, securing, and operating enterprise-grade Kubernetes platforms on Azure, with a focus on automation, scalability, reliability, and security.
The ideal candidate will have deep operational knowledge of Kubernetes internals, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, and GitOps-driven deployments in large-scale Azure environments.
Key Responsibilities
AKS Deployment & Azure Cloud Management :
- Design, deploy, and manage Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) clusters for production-grade enterprise workloads.
- Configure and manage cluster networking, ingress controllers, DNS, load balancers, and traffic routing.
- Ensure high availability, scalability, performance optimization, and cost efficiency of AKS workloads.
- Implement Azure-native security best practices including Azure RBAC, Azure Policy, Managed Identities, and Network Security Controls.
- Automate AKS provisioning and Azure infrastructure using Terraform and CI/CD workflows (GitHub Actions).
Kubernetes Cluster Administration :
- Administer Kubernetes core components including API Server, etcd, Scheduler, Controller Manager, and node pools.
- Design and manage Kubernetes networking using CNI plugins (Calico) and enforce network policies.
- Monitor cluster health, logs, metrics, and resource utilization using Azure-native and open-source monitoring tools.
- Troubleshoot complex cluster-level and application-level issues in production environments.
- Implement backup, restore, and disaster recovery (DR) strategies for Kubernetes clusters and workloads.
CI/CD, GitOps & Automation :
- Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for Kubernetes-based applications using GitHub Actions.
- Implement and manage GitOps workflows using Flux for declarative and automated Kubernetes deployments.
- Perform Kustomize-based configurations for environment-specific deployments (Dev, QA, UAT, Prod).
- Ensure deployment consistency, version control, and rollback strategies across environments.
Integrations & Platform Tooling :
- Deploy and manage NGINX Ingress Controller for secure and scalable traffic management.
- Configure and enforce Calico network and security policies within Kubernetes clusters.
- Collaborate with application, DevOps, and security teams for platform integrations.
- Exposure to Solr or similar distributed platforms is an added advantage.
Technical Skills & Competencies :
Mandatory Skills :
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with AKS, Azure Infrastructure, and Kubernetes Administration.
- Strong expertise in Kubernetes operations, scaling, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience with Terraform, GitHub Actions, and GitOps tools (Flux).
- Strong understanding of Kubernetes networking concepts, ingress, services, and CNI plugins.
- Experience implementing Azure and Kubernetes security best practices.
- Proven experience handling enterprise-scale Kubernetes environments.
