About the Role:

We are looking for a Senior Python Backend Developer to join our growing engineering team and play a key role in building scalable, secure, and high-performance backend systems that power enterprise-grade eCommerce, marketplace, and SaaS applications.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in Python, Django, Django REST Framework, API development, databases, AWS, and backend architecture. You will work on complex integrations with platforms such as Amazon and Shopify, build automation solutions, optimize system performance, and contribute to technical and architectural decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

Backend Development & Architecture:

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Python and Django.

- Build secure, high-performance RESTful APIs and backend services using Django REST Framework.

- Design scalable and maintainable software architectures for enterprise and eCommerce applications.

- Develop asynchronous and background processing solutions using Celery and Redis.

- Identify performance bottlenecks and implement solutions to improve application scalability, reliability, and response time.

API & Platform Integrations:

- Develop and maintain integrations with Amazon SP-API, Shopify API, and other third-party/vendor APIs.

- Build robust API integrations with appropriate authentication, error handling, logging, retries, and monitoring.

- Work with internal teams to understand integration requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.

Automation:

- Design and develop automation solutions using Selenium.

- Build reliable automation workflows for repetitive eCommerce and operational processes.

- Monitor and troubleshoot automation jobs to ensure stability and performance.

Database Management:

- Design and optimize database schemas using PostgreSQL and MySQL.

- Write efficient SQL queries and perform database optimization.

- Analyze query performance and implement appropriate indexing and optimization strategies.

- Ensure data integrity, scalability, and reliability across backend systems.

Cloud & DevOps:

- Deploy and manage applications on AWS, including EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, and CloudWatch.

- Work with Docker-based application environments and containerized deployments.

- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or GitHub Actions.

- Collaborate on infrastructure automation and deployment processes using Terraform.

- Work with Kubernetes-based environments where required.

- Monitor production systems and proactively identify and resolve infrastructure and application issues.

Production Support & Engineering Excellence:

- Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues.

- Perform root-cause analysis and implement long-term fixes.

- Improve application reliability, security, scalability, and observability.

- Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to engineering best practices.

- Write clean, maintainable, well-tested, and production-ready code.

- Mentor junior developers and contribute to the overall technical growth of the engineering team.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

- Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Business, and Operations teams.

- Translate business and product requirements into effective technical solutions.

- Participate in architecture discussions, technical planning, and Agile/Scrum ceremonies.

- Take ownership of deliverables and contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes.

Required Skills & Expertise:

Backend Technologies:

- Strong hands-on experience with Python

- Expert-level experience with Django

- Strong experience with Django REST Framework (DRF)

- REST API development and third-party API integrations

- Celery and Redis

- Selenium

- Strong understanding of backend architecture and design patterns

Cloud & DevOps:

- Hands-on experience with AWS, particularly EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, and CloudWatch.

- Docker, CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Git.

- Kubernetes and Terraform preferred.

Databases:

- Strong experience with PostgreSQL and/or MySQL

- Database design, schema optimization, SQL query optimization, indexing, and performance tuning.

Linux & Server Administration:

- Ubuntu/Linux, Shell scripting, Nginx, Gunicorn, Cron jobs, and basic server troubleshooting.

API Integrations:

- Amazon SP-API, Shopify API, third-party REST APIs, vendor and marketplace integrations.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

- 6+ years of hands-on experience in Python backend development.

- Proven experience building scalable SaaS, enterprise, eCommerce, or marketplace applications.

- Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills.
