AS400 Developer - RPG

We are seeking a highly skilled AS400 Developer with 5+ years of experience in RPG (RPG III/IV/ILE/Free) and DB2 to develop, maintain, and support enterprise applications running on the IBM iSeries platform.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with a solid understanding of business processes and integration with modern systems.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, test, and implement applications using RPG (RPG IV, RPG ILE, Free RPG) on the AS400/iSeries platform.

- Perform analysis of business requirements, convert them into technical designs, and implement solutions accordingly.

- Create and maintain database objects (tables, indexes, views) using DB2/400.

- Support and enhance existing AS400 applications, ensuring high performance and reliability.

- Work closely with functional teams to understand and implement business logic.

- Perform unit testing, troubleshoot issues, and provide production support.

- Document programs, procedures, and changes as per internal standards.

- Integrate AS400 systems with external platforms via APIs, FTP, flat files, or middleware tools.

- Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Skills and Qualifications :

- 5+ years of experience in AS400 development using RPG III/IV/ILE/Free.

- Strong knowledge of DB2/400, CL/CLLE, and Query/400.

- Experience in designing and maintaining physical and logical files, stored procedures, and

trigger programs.

- Solid understanding of modular programming, subfiles, error handling, and performance tuning.

- Experience in batch job processing, job scheduling, and data integration.

- Good knowledge of SDLC, documentation, and version control.

- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.

- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Exposure to EDI, Web Services, API integration, or MQ Series.

- Experience in modernizing legacy AS400 applications or integrating with web/mobile

platforms.

- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.

- Prior experience in finance, manufacturing, retail, or insurance domains.

Educational Qualification :

- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
