AS400 Developer

Job Title : AS400 Developer with RxClaim Experience (Contract)

Location : Hybrid (Bengaluru, with work-from-home flexibility)

Role Overview :

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced AS400 Developer with a strong background in the RxClaim platform to join our team on a contract basis. This role is crucial for the development, maintenance, and seamless integration of our core AS400-based applications, specifically within the healthcare and pharmacy benefits management domain. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical knowledge of the AS400 environment and be capable of working effectively in a hybrid setup.

Key Responsibilities :

Development and Maintenance :

- Design, develop, test, and implement new features and enhancements for existing and new AS400 applications, particularly those interfacing with or residing within the RxClaim system.

- Write, modify, and debug high-quality code primarily using RPG, ILE RPG, CL, and SQL within the IBM i (AS400) environment.

- Perform system analysis, code reviews, and performance tuning to ensure application efficiency, reliability, and scalability.

- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including program specifications, system designs, and user guides.

RxClaim Expertise :

- Apply extensive knowledge of the RxClaim platform (e.g., claims processing, eligibility, formulary, pricing logic, financial and reporting modules) to address business requirements and technical challenges.

- Customize and configure RxClaim modules to meet client-specific pharmacy benefits management (PBM) needs.

- Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues related to AS400 applications and their interaction with RxClaim components.

Collaboration and Process :

- Collaborate effectively with Business Analysts, Quality Assurance teams, and other cross-functional groups to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

- Participate in the full software development life cycle (SDLC), adhering to established coding standards, change management, and release processes.

- Engage in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospective meetings as part of an Agile/Scrum development process.

- Provide technical support and mentoring to junior team members as needed.

Required Technical Qualifications and Experience :

Experience : Minimum of 6+ years of progressive experience in AS400 development.

AS400/IBM i Proficiency : Expert-level programming skills in RPG, ILE RPG, and CLP (Control Language Programming).

Database : Strong proficiency in embedded and external SQL for database manipulation, queries, and optimization within DB2/400.

RxClaim Experience : Proven, hands-on development and configuration experience within the RxClaim PBM system is mandatory.

Core Concepts : Solid understanding of Computer Science concepts, data structures, and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles.

Utilities/Tools : Experience with AS400 development tools and utilities (e.g., PDM, SEU, RDi, DFU, SDA).

Problem-Solving : Excellent analytical, debugging, and complex problem-solving abilities with a meticulous attention to detail.

Communication : Strong verbal and written communication skills for technical and cross-functional collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Previous experience in the healthcare or Pharmacy Benefits Management (PBM) industry outside of RxClaim is a significant advantage.

- Familiarity with modern AS400 development practices, including Web Services integration and API development.

- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).

- Knowledge of job scheduling tools and monitoring within the AS400 environment.

Education :

- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related technical field.
