About the Role :

We are seeking an experienced Lead Automation Engineer with strong expertise in Test Automation, Python Development, API Testing, and Modern Automation Frameworks. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable automation solutions that improve product quality, accelerate release cycles, and support continuous delivery initiatives.

This role requires a hands-on automation professional who can work closely with Product Owners, Developers, QA Teams, and Business Stakeholders to ensure robust test coverage across web applications, APIs, and enterprise platforms. The candidate should have extensive experience in building automation frameworks using Python, Selenium, Playwright, PyTest, and Rest Assured while driving quality engineering best practices across the organization.

As a Lead Automation Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring product reliability, performance, and quality throughout the software development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Test Automation Development :

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks using Python and PyTest.

- Develop automated test scripts for web applications, APIs, and backend services.

- Build reusable automation components and utilities to improve testing efficiency.

- Ensure automation coverage across functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing scenarios.

2. API Testing & Validation :

- Develop and execute automated API test cases using Rest Assured and related tools.

- Validate API functionality, response structures, performance, and error handling.

- Analyze API failures and troubleshoot integration issues effectively.

- Ensure seamless validation of microservices and service-oriented architectures.

3. UI Automation :

- Develop and maintain UI automation suites using Selenium and Playwright.

- Automate complex business workflows and user journeys.

- Ensure cross-browser and cross-platform test coverage.

- Support continuous improvement of UI automation frameworks.

4. Quality Assurance & Testing :

- Create comprehensive test strategies, test plans, and test cases.

- Participate in requirement analysis and identify test scenarios early in the development lifecycle.

- Manage defect reporting, tracking, and validation processes.

- Perform patch testing, release testing, and production validation activities.

- Ensure adherence to quality standards and testing best practices.

5. Database & Backend Validation :

- Execute database validations and data integrity checks using SQL queries.

- Verify backend processing and data flow across integrated systems.

- Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis activities.

6. CI/CD & DevOps Integration :

- Integrate automation frameworks with CI/CD pipelines.

- Support Jenkins-based automation execution and reporting.

- Collaborate with DevOps teams to streamline deployment and testing workflows.

- Enable continuous testing within Agile delivery environments.

7. Stakeholder Collaboration :

- Work closely with Developers, Product Managers, Business Analysts, and QA teams to understand requirements and acceptance criteria.

- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and reviews.

- Present automation deliverables, demos, and quality metrics to stakeholders.

- Mentor junior automation engineers and contribute to team capability building.

Required Skills & Experience :

- 8- 11 years of experience in Software Testing and Test Automation.

- Strong hands-on expertise in Python scripting and automation development.

- Extensive experience with Selenium, Playwright, and UI automation frameworks.

- Strong knowledge of API testing using Rest Assured.

- Experience with PyTest framework development and maintenance.

- Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, defect lifecycle, and quality assurance practices.

- Experience with database testing and SQL query execution.

- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and Jenkins integration.

- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
