Application Manager

Description :

The Application Manager is responsible for end-to-end ownership of assigned applications across their lifecycle including onboarding, packaging governance, deployment readiness, compliance, incident management support, upgrades, retirement, and engagement with technical teams (Solution Architects, Packaging Engineers). The role ensures applications remain compliant, secure, stable, and aligned with business requirements.

Roles and Responsibilities :

- Own the full lifecycle of assigned applications from requirement intake to retirement

- Evaluate, onboard, deploy, maintain, and retire applications as required

- Maintain accurate application inventory, version details, deployment status, and documentation

- Coordinate with business owners, application portfolio managers, and technical teams

- Ensure all packaging requests follow defined standards, templates, and processes

- Validate deployment prerequisites and confirm readiness before application release

- Oversee incidents, problems, and change activities related to assigned applications

- Track application vulnerabilities and coordinate remediation with security teams

- Work with Service Delivery Managers on escalations, SLAs, and service improvements

- Ensure applications comply with security, licensing, and regulatory requirements

- Support vulnerability assessments, risk reviews, and regular compliance checks

- Maintain SOPs, onboarding documents, version history, and deployment guides

- Prepare and share weekly and monthly reports on application health and risks

- Report on packaging progress, incidents, and application usage insights

- Work closely with business, security, packaging, Intune, and deployment teams

- Provide application information during audits, lifecycle planning, and platform upgrades

Skills and Experience Required :

Technical Skills :

- Familiarity with application packaging concepts (MSI, MSIX, App-V)

- Knowledge of deployment tools (Intune, SAMPro)

- Understanding of Windows & macOS application compatibility

- Knowledge of security compliance (vulnerability management, patching, license usage)

Functional Skills :

- Strong coordination and stakeholder management

- Ability to manage large application inventories

- Documentation, reporting, and process adherence

- Analytical thinking for troubleshooting and impact analysis

Qualifications :

- Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, or related field

- 7+ years of experience in Application Management, Packaging Coordination, or IT Service Delivery

- ITIL Foundation certification preferred
