About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Application Code Promotion Specialist with expertise in mainframe and distributed environments to join our application delivery and support team.

The ideal candidate will take ownership of complex code promotion processes, coordinate with development, automation, and client teams, and ensure seamless software release management across environments.

This role demands strong analytical, communication, and mentoring abilities, as well as a comprehensive understanding of software configuration tools such as Endevor and Changeman.

The individual will work independently on high-complexity tasks, provide oversight on moderate or low-complexity assignments, and serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in code promotion processes and related tooling.

Key Responsibilities :

Technical and Functional Responsibilities :

- Manage code promotions across mainframe and distributed environments in accordance with defined release and change management procedures.

- Act as the owner for high- and moderate-complexity assignments, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery.

- Oversee and review low-complexity tasks performed by junior team members, ensuring quality standards are maintained.

- Collaborate with technical support, automation, and client teams for complex promotion activities and environment changes.

- Support and maintain code promotion software and related automation tools.

- Provide input and assistance during application upgrades, system changes, and environment refreshes.

- Manage and maintain internal and external reporting related to code promotion activities, deployment metrics, and environment health.

- Ensure compliance with ITIL processes and maintain documentation of change and release activities.

- Troubleshoot deployment issues, coordinate with development and infrastructure teams to resolve problems quickly.

Leadership & Mentorship :

- Provide formal mentorship and technical guidance to less experienced associates.

- Deliver training sessions and documentation to enhance team knowledge and efficiency.

- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for code promotion and environment configuration processes.

- Exhibit ownership and accountability, taking initiative to identify and implement process improvements.

Key Requirements & Qualifications :

Required Qualifications :

Experience : Minimum of 5 years in application release management, code promotion, or mainframe operations.

Education : Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Technical Skills :

- Strong understanding of mainframe environments (TSO, SDSF, QuickRef).

- Proficiency in JCL (ability to read and code).

- Working knowledge of Endevor and/or Changeman for code promotion management.

- Familiarity with server scripts (ability to read and interpret scripts).

- Hands-on experience with code promotion processes in both mainframe and distributed systems.

Software Proficiency:

- Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) for reporting and documentation.

Other Skills:

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills.

- Understanding of ITIL Foundation principles and change management processes.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills:

- Knowledge of SharePoint for document management and collaboration.

- Ability to write and automate server scripts.

- Familiarity with FTP protocols and data transfer processes.

- Experience with Easytrieve, SAS, and File Aid tools.

- Exposure to job scheduling software (e.g., Control-M, CA7, or equivalent).
