API Test Lead

Key Responsibilities :

- Design and execute test cases to verify the accuracy and performance of API products.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and identify testable features.

- Develop and maintain automated tests using JAVA and Python to enhance testing efficiency.

- Conduct detailed API testing to identify defects and provide timely reports.

- Utilize various testing methodologies to ensure the quality and functionality of API systems.

- Troubleshoot technical issues and work closely with the development team for resolutions.

- Continuously improve testing processes for high-quality product delivery.

- Stay updated with industry trends in API testing and automation.

- Participate in code reviews, knowledge sharing sessions, and communicate effectively with stakeholders.

- Contribute to the software development process in an agile environment.

- Mentor junior QA team members on API testing best practices and automation techniques.

- Act as a subject matter expert in API testing and provide guidance on testing strategies.

Requirement :

- API First Testing Experience : Strong emphasis on end to end API testing from a business use case perspective, including validation strategies beyond HTTP status codes (e.g., payload validation, follow up calls, and data verification across systems).

- Test Automation Engineering : Proven experience writing and maintaining automated test scripts, not just consuming existing libraries or tools. Candidates should be comfortable implementing test logic and assertions in code.

- Programming Skills : Hands on experience in Java is preferred; Python or a comparable scripting language is acceptable if the candidate can comfortably read, understand, and extend existing test scenarios and frameworks.

- Version Control Proficiency : Mandatory working knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git). This should be considered a baseline expectation, as recent candidates lacked even minimal exposure.

- Observability & Debugging : Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Datadog) to analyze traces, identify root causes, and provide actionable feedback to developers before escalation.

- API Tooling : Practical experience with Swagger / Swagger Hub for API definitions, contract understanding, and test alignment.

- Modern Development Tools : Comfort using IDEs and tools such as GitHub Copilot to support efficient test development and maintenance.
