Role Overview :

The API Testing Engineer is a crucial quality assurance role requiring 3 to 10 years of experience, focused on ensuring the functionality, reliability, performance, and security of application programming interfaces (APIs).

This position is open in Bangalore / Pune / Kolkata and demands strong hands-on expertise in API testing tools, deep protocol knowledge (REST/SOAP), and excellent analytical and communication skills for effective cross-functional collaboration.

The incumbent will play a key role in validating system integration and backend services that drive modern applications.

Job Summary :

We are looking for an experienced API Tester with strong hands-on experience in API Testing and ReadyAPI. The ideal candidate should possess excellent analytical skills and strong communication abilities to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, ensuring robust quality and stability of critical microservices and enterprise service layers.

Key Responsibilities and Testing Deliverables :

- API Test Execution : Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test cases for various REST and SOAP APIs, ensuring functionality, reliability, and adherence to specifications.

- Tool Proficiency : Utilize ReadyAPI (or equivalent tools) such as Postman, SoapUI, or Katalon Studio for hands-on creation, execution, and management of API test suites.

- Automation and Scripting : Contribute to the automation of API test cases for integration into Continuous Integration (CI) pipelines, leveraging tool-specific scripting features where necessary.

- Protocol and Structure Validation : Validate request and response formats (e.g., JSON, XML), status codes, data integrity, security headers, and error handling mechanisms across API endpoints.

- Methodology and Tracking : Apply good knowledge of testing methodologies (e.g., black-box, integration, functional testing) and follow established defect tracking processes (e.g., using Jira, Azure DevOps) to log, prioritize, and verify bug fixes.

- Collaboration and Analysis : Leverage excellent communication and problem-solving skills to work effectively with development, DevOps, and product teams to understand API contracts and resolve complex integration issues.

- Documentation : Contribute to the creation and maintenance of API test plans, test cases, and related technical documentation.

Mandatory Skills & Qualifications

- Experience : 3 to 10 years of experience dedicated to software testing, with a strong focus on API testing.

- API Tooling : Strong hands-on experience in API Testing using ReadyAPI (or equivalent tools) like SoapUI or Postman.

- Protocol Knowledge : Solid understanding of REST and SOAP APIs, including concepts like HTTP methods, response codes, WSDL, and data formats (JSON/XML).

- Testing Fundamentals : Good knowledge of testing methodologies (functional, integration, regression) and defect tracking processes.

- Soft Skills : Excellent communication and problem-solving skills essential for cross-functional collaboration.
