Job Description

OVERVIEW :

Are you passionate about building and scaling modern cloud-native infrastructure to power high-impact products in the fast-moving world of FinTech?

Were looking for an experienced and versatile Engineering Manager DevOps to lead a talented DevOps and platform engineering team responsible for building resilient infrastructure, automating deployment pipelines, managing observability tooling, and ensuring our systems are scalable, secure, and performant.

Youll play a critical role in enabling product engineering teams to ship reliably at pace supporting our customer-facing platform and mission-critical third-party integrations, including payment processors, BNPL providers, fraud services, and financial data platforms.

Youll work with a modern, cloud-first stack, including Kubernetes (EKS), AWS Lambda, Java Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, and more, and lead infrastructure evolution, and best practice adoption across DevOps.

Infrastructure & Platform Leadership :

- Lead a DevOps / Cloud Engineering team focused on infrastructure-as-code, system reliability, deployment automation, and cloud-native architecture.

- Drive automation across infrastructure and operational workflows including deployments, database upgrades, and failover processes with the goal of achieving zero-downtime for critical services.

- Own and enhance our CI/CD pipelines, ensuring high-quality, fast, and repeatable delivery processes.

- Guide architectural decisions across infrastructure layers, from API Gateway and container orchestration to observability and secrets management.

Observability, Security & Reliability :

- Ensure platform availability, observability, and performance through applying relevant tools and robust alerting practices.

- Drive a culture of You build it, you run it, promoting shared ownership of availability, SLAs, and incident response.

- Champion secure practices across infrastructure, including centralised identity (Active Directory), network segmentation, and least privilege access.

Team Leadership & Culture :

- Foster a high-trust, inclusive, and continuously improving team environment.

- Grow and support a high-performing Cloud Engineering team; recruit top talent and foster a strong team culture centred on ownership, experimentation, and learning.

- Actively contribute to strategic planning, platform roadmapping, and technology investment decisions.

ABOUT YOU :

- Proven experience leading DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering teams, ideally in a fast-paced FinTech or SaaS environment.

- Experience architecting and operating multi-region active-active with a strong understanding of trade-offs around latency, failover, data consistency, and cost.

- Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes (EKS preferred), containerisation, and managing modern CI/CD pipelines.

- Deep knowledge of AWS cloud services (Lambda, EC2, S3, EventBridge, Step Functions, API Gateway) and infrastructure-as-code practices (e.g., Terraform or CloudFormation).

- Familiar with observability tooling and logging/monitoring best practices.

- Experience administering RDS for PostgreSQL / Aurora and working with tools like AWS DMS, Snowflake, and QuickSight for data operations.

- Solid understanding of security, identity (e.g. Active Directory), and access control in cloud environments.

- Proven track record of automating DevOps processes to minimise manual intervention and support zero-downtime deployments, including areas like database upgrades, configuration changes, and traffic shifts.

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to work cross-functionally and influence without authority.

- Passionate about building resilient systems, reducing operational toil, and fostering a strong DevOps culture across the entire Technology department.

PROJECTS YOU'LL OWN :

Here is a few examples of projects you'll led & own hands-on :

- EKS Upgrade: Continue to develop, deploy and maintain our EKS structure, ensuring security and patch management is first priority.

- RDS Upgrade: Lead our continued development and improvement of RDS on PostgreSQL ensuring continued reliability & speed.

- Defining our strategy for our move to AuroraDB.
