Role Overview :
We are looking for a skilled Android Automotive Developer with hands-on experience in developing and debugging Android applications for automotive infotainment systems. The ideal candidate should have strong programming skills in Java and Kotlin, good knowledge of the Android framework and components, and experience working with AOSP, Android build systems, testing, and debugging tools.
The candidate will be responsible for developing, integrating, debugging, and maintaining Android applications and features for automotive infotainment platforms.
Key Responsibilities :
- Design, develop, integrate, and maintain Android applications for automotive infotainment systems.
- Develop robust and scalable applications using Java and Kotlin.
- Work extensively with Android components such as Activities, Services, Broadcast Receivers, Content Providers, and Fragments.
- Understand and work with the Android Framework and SDK.
- Debug application and system-level issues using tools such as ADB, Logcat, Android Studio debugger, and other Android debugging tools.
- Apply OOP principles, design patterns, and software engineering best practices.
- Implement and maintain application architectures using patterns such as MVP, MVVM, Observer, and related architectural approaches.
- Integrate and work with third-party libraries, APIs, and Android SDK components.
- Develop and maintain unit tests and automated test cases using JUnit and Android testing frameworks.
- Work with Android Studio, Gradle, and Android build tools.
- Understand and contribute to the AOSP build system and Android platform development.
- Work with Android Make files/Android.mk and related build configurations.
- Participate in code reviews and manage source code using Git/Gerrit.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including system, middleware, QA, and automotive engineering teams.
- Troubleshoot performance, stability, integration, and functional issues across the Android automotive stack.
Required Skills :
- Hands-on experience in Android Application Development using Java, preferably for Automotive/Infotainment systems.
- Strong programming skills in Java and Kotlin.
- Good understanding of Android components and application lifecycle.
- Strong understanding of the Android Framework and Android SDK.
- Good knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP/OOPS) concepts.
- Knowledge of software design patterns, such as MVP, MVVM, Observer, Singleton, and Factory.
- Good debugging and troubleshooting skills using ADB, Android profiling/debugging tools, Android Studio Debugger, and Logcat.
- Hands-on experience with Android Studio IDE, AOSP build system, Git, and Gerrit.
- Experience writing unit tests using JUnit and working with test automation.
- Experience working with third-party libraries and APIs.
Good to Have :
- Knowledge of Gradle and Android build configurations.
- Experience with Android Make files (Android.mk).
- Experience with AOSP source code and platform customization.
- Experience in Android Automotive OS (AAOS).
- Understanding of automotive infotainment architecture and middleware.
- Familiarity with CI/CD and automated build systems.
- Knowledge of Android performance optimization and memory management.
Preferred Candidate Profile :
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Good understanding of software development lifecycle.
- Ability to analyze complex technical issues and provide effective solutions.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as within a cross-functional team.
- Automotive domain experience will be an added advantage.
