Role Overview :

We are seeking a skilled Analytics Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data transformation layers on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). In this role, you will own the ELT pipelinefrom raw ingestion to analytics-ready datasetsusing Dataform or dbt with BigQuery for enterprise-scale clients.

You will collaborate closely with data engineers, BI teams, and stakeholders to deliver reliable, well-modeled datasets that drive business insights.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design and implement data transformation layers on BigQuery using Dataform or dbt

- Own end-to-end ELT pipelines, ensuring data accuracy, performance, and scalability

- Develop and maintain staging, intermediate, and mart layers following analytics engineering best practices

- Build incremental models, snapshots, and SCDs (Slowly Changing Dimensions)

- Optimize BigQuery SQL for performance and cost efficiency

- Implement data quality checks, metadata management, and governance using Dataplex and Data Catalog

- Use Git-based version control and CI/CD pipelines for production-grade transformation workflows

- Create clear technical documentation and collaborate with client stakeholders

Required Technical Skills :

(Candidates should have 6 to 8 of the following)

- Dataform for native BigQuery transformation workflows

- dbt (BigQuery adapter) for analytics engineering projects

- Advanced BigQuery SQL : CTEs, window functions, MERGE statements, scripting

- Incremental models, snapshots, and SCD implementations

- SQLX and JavaScript in Dataform for reusable and dynamic transformations

- Data modeling techniques : staging, intermediate, and mart layer patterns

- Dataplex data quality rules and Data Catalog tagging

- Git-based version control and CI/CD for data transformation projects

Experience & Qualifications :

- 3+ years of experience in analytics engineering or data engineering

- At least 1 year of hands-on experience with BigQuery

- Delivered 2+ Dataform or dbt projects with 50+ production models

- Strong communication skills for client interaction and technical documentation

- Experience working in client-facing or consulting environments is a plus

Nice to Have :

- Experience supporting BI tools (Looker, Tableau, Power BI)

- Familiarity with data governance and compliance frameworks

- Exposure to large-scale enterprise data platforms on GCP
