As a DevOps Engineer at Almabase, you'll be an integral part of our engineering team, working on projects that directly impact our mission. You will collaborate closely with other developers, product managers, and designers to build scalable, high-quality software solutions.
Responsibilities :
- Infrastructure Optimization : Monitor and optimize our infrastructure for peak performance, ensuring a seamless user experience.
- DevOps Pipeline Development : Build and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines to streamline development and deployment processes.
- Process Automation : Identify opportunities to automate and improve development and release processes, reducing manual effort and increasing efficiency.
- Security and Compliance : Identify and implement security measures to protect our systems and data, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Release Engineering : Audit and stabilize flaky pipelines. Automate build, test, and deployment workflows.
- Infrastructure Management : Manage Azure VMs and bare-metal Ubuntu servers. Monitor usage, plan scaling, and optimize costs.
- Automation (Python) : Write scripts for deployments, monitoring, backups, health checks, and other recurring tasks.
- Nginx Management : Configure routing, SSL, caching, and load balancing. Troubleshoot performance and security issues.
- Monitoring and Observability : Use Datadog and Sentry for visibility. Build dashboards, alerts, and diagnostics.
- Incident Response : Investigate issues, run root-cause analysis, and implement preventative fixes.
- Security and Compliance : Manage secrets, implement network policies, and support SOC2 ISO, and HIPAA requirements.
- Technical Problem Solving : Identify and resolve technical issues, leveraging your problem-solving skills to contribute to a seamless user experience.
- Collaboration : Work closely with software developers and engineers to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended.
Month 1-3 (Foundation and Assessment) :
- Audit current CI/CD pipelines and release process; document pain points.
- Assess infrastructure (Azure + bare-metal), Nginx configs, and monitoring setups.
- Identify immediate security gaps and critical reliability issues.
- Shadow on-call rotations and learn existing incident response processes.
- Deliver small automation scripts to reduce repetitive manual tasks.
Month 4-6 (Stabilization and Early Improvements) :
- Fix key pipeline flakiness and implement automation for releases.
- Harden Nginx configurations and improve deployment scripts.
- Implement or improve monitoring dashboards and alerting rules.
- Address urgent security gaps (secrets management, network policies).
- Start contributing to reliability improvements for seasonal peak traffic.
Month 7-12 (Ownership and Optimization) :
- Own release engineering process end-to-end with minimal supervision.
- Lead initiatives to improve infrastructure scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency.
- Drive automation for recurring operational tasks across teams.
- Collaborate with security/compliance teams to ensure SOC2/ISO/HIPAA readiness.
- Mentor junior engineers on DevOps practices and on-call best practices.
Requirements :
- Min 3 Years of Proven experience as a DevOps engineer.
- Proficiency with cloud platforms (at least one of AWS, Azure, GCP), including typical VM management and basic networking tasks.
- Scripting and automation, with Python, Bash, or similar languages.
- CI/CD pipeline setup and maintenance using popular tools relevant to the stack (Bitbucket Pipelines, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc. ).
- Experience with configuration management or Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, etc. ).
- Understanding of Linux system administration and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (Datadog, Prometheus, ELK).
- Managing and deploying web servers like NGINX.
- Handling self-managed databases (basic administration, backup, restore, disaster recovery).
- Communication Skills : Strong written communication skills.
