About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced Lead Python Developer to lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable backend applications and services. The role combines strong hands-on Python development with technical leadership, system design, and end-to-end ownership of backend solutions.

You will work closely with Product, Design, QA, and DevOps teams to build high-performance and reliable applications, contribute to architecture decisions, and guide engineering teams on technical implementation and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications and services using Python.

- Design and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices.

- Contribute to system design, architecture, and technical decision-making.

- Translate business and product requirements into scalable and reliable technical solutions.

- Write clean, maintainable, reusable, and well-tested production code.

- Optimize backend systems for performance, scalability, security, and reliability.

- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across applications and infrastructure.

- Conduct code reviews and ensure consistency with engineering and coding standards.

- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to developers.

- Collaborate closely with Product, QA, Design, and DevOps teams.

- Participate in sprint planning, technical discussions, and Agile ceremonies.

- Follow best practices around Git, CI/CD, testing, and deployment.

- Take ownership of features and technical initiatives from development through deployment.

- Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and engineering practices.

- Evaluate technical approaches and recommend improvements where required.

Technical Skills:

- 810 years of hands-on experience in Python development - backend engineering.

- Strong proficiency in Python and backend application development.

- Experience with modern Python frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, or Flask.

- Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, API design, and microservices.

- Solid understanding of distributed systems and scalable backend architecture.

- Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases, such as PostgreSQL and MongoDB.

- Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming, design patterns, and software architecture principles.

- Experience developing applications focused on performance, scalability, and security.

- Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile methodologies.

- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.

- Experience with unit and integration testing and test-driven development practices is preferred.

- Experience with AI-powered developer tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, or Cursor is an advantage.

- Strong problem-solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.

- Experience with code reviews, technical leadership, and mentoring.

Leadership & Ownership :

- Take technical ownership of backend components and deliverables.

- Guide developers on architecture, implementation, coding standards, and best practices.

- Review technical designs and identify potential scalability, performance, and reliability concerns.

- Balance hands-on development with technical leadership.

- Work independently on complex problems and drive them through to resolution.
