Job Description

SDET Engineer - Python Automation, IoT & Embedded Systems

Location : Ahmedabad

Experience : 4+ Years

Working Hours : 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM, Monday to Friday

Education : BE/ME/B.Tech/M.Tech in Electronics, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

Role Overview :

We are looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to develop and maintain automated testing solutions for embedded and IoT-based products.

The role combines Python programming, web and API automation, and connected-device validation to ensure software components perform reliably across integrated product environments.

The candidate will contribute to automation framework development, test environment preparation, defect investigation, and continuous testing activities.

This opportunity is suited to an engineer who can translate complex test scenarios into reusable automation logic and work closely with development teams to identify quality risks throughout the product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities :

- Develop and enhance automated testing frameworks using Python, creating reusable utilities and test logic for complex validation scenarios.

- Implement behaviour-driven and data-driven test approaches using Robot Framework or comparable automation technologies.

- Design and execute automated test suites for REST APIs, web interfaces, and embedded product functionality.

- Perform browser-based testing using Selenium WebDriver and validate service behaviour through API automation.

- Create and maintain test scripts using Pytest and Robot Framework, ensuring consistent execution across supported test environments.

- Validate IoT and embedded-system workflows, including device functionality, software integration, and communication between connected components.

- Configure and maintain test environments, simulators, supporting utilities, and test data required for reliable test execution.

- Integrate automated test suites into Jenkins CI/CD pipelines to enable repeatable execution and timely feedback on software changes.

- Analyse test failures, reproduce reported issues, investigate logs, and provide clear technical evidence to development teams.

- Identify functional gaps, document defects, assess potential quality risks, and verify corrective changes through regression testing.

- Track execution progress, automation coverage, defect status, and quality indicators, sharing updates with project stakeholders.

- Improve existing test assets by reducing redundant test steps, strengthening scenario coverage, and addressing unstable automation scripts.

Required Technical Skills :

- 4+ years of experience in software test automation, preferably involving embedded products or IoT solutions.

- Strong programming skills in Python, including the ability to develop logic for complex test conditions and reusable automation components.

- Hands-on experience with Pytest, Robot Framework, and Python development tools such as PyCharm.

- Experience with Selenium WebDriver for browser automation.

- Practical knowledge of REST API testing and automated API validation.

- Experience configuring or maintaining Jenkins-based CI/CD pipelines.

- Understanding of embedded and IoT testing methodologies, including integration and functional validation.

- Familiarity with test environments, simulators, defect management, and regression testing.

- Ability to investigate failures independently and communicate technical findings clearly.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Experience with behaviour-driven development (BDD) or data-driven testing methodologies.

- Exposure to connected-device ecosystems and communication technologies used in IoT products.

- Familiarity with embedded software development and product engineering environments.

- Experience working with cross-functional teams comprising developers, system engineers, and quality assurance professionals.

About the Engineering Environment :

The role offers exposure to product engineering and digital transformation projects across areas such as IoT, automotive, industrial automation, aerospace, semiconductors, and consumer electronics.

Depending on project allocation, engineers may contribute to testing activities spanning embedded firmware, device connectivity, middleware, and cloud-connected applications.

Expected Outcomes :

- Reliable and maintainable automated test frameworks.

- Improved coverage of embedded, IoT, web, and API functionality.

- Faster identification of software defects through CI/CD-integrated testing.

- Accurate reporting of test results and quality risks.

- Effective collaboration with engineering teams to support stable product releases
