Job Description

We are seeking a visionary Chief Technology Officer to lead our mission of building a Large Behavioural Model (LBM) a breakthrough AI system that understands human cognition, emotion, and behaviour at unprecedented scale and depth.

As CTO, you will architect the technological foundation that powers the world's most comprehensive human behavioural dataset, transforming education while creating infrastructure that will define the next generation of human-aligned AI systems.

This is a rare opportunity to combine cutting-edge AI/ML research with meaningful social impact, working at the intersection of behavioural science, educational technology, and artificial intelligence.

Key Responsibilities

Technology Strategy & Vision

- Develop and execute the technical strategy aligned with AcadAlly's mission to build the world's largest labelled behavioural dataset

- Lead the architecture and development of our Large Behavioural Model (LBM) leveraging AI/ML, Item Response Theory (IRT), and advanced data modelling techniques

- Drive innovation in adaptive assessments, personalized learning algorithms, and behavioural prediction models

- Define the product roadmap with strategic vision for what to build next and why

- Monitor emerging technology trends in AI, EdTech, and behavioural science to maintain competitive advantage

- Communicate technology strategy effectively to stakeholders, partners, and investors Platform Architecture & Development

- Design and oversee scalable system architecture capable of processing millions of student interactions daily

- Consolidate and optimize technology platforms across the product ecosystem

- Implement robust data infrastructure for capturing, storing, and analysing high-resolution behavioural data

- Ensure platform reliability, security, and performance at scale

- Build comprehensive data protection and quality assurance processes

- Oversee all system design decisions and architectural changes

Research & Innovation :

- Lead R&D initiatives in AI/ML, particularly focused on behavioural modelling and educational AI

- Research and implement cutting-edge approaches in psychometrics, adaptive testing, and learning analytics

- Develop novel algorithms for mapping the HASK Model (Health, Habit, Attitude, Skills, Knowledge) to measurable outcomes

- Stay current with academic research in cognitive science, educational psychology, and AI alignment

- Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies (NLP, computer vision, reinforcement learning) into the platform

- Establish partnerships with research institutions and contribute to the academic community

Team Leadership & Development :

- Build, mentor, and lead high-performing engineering, data science, and product teams

- Foster a culture of innovation, technical excellence, and continuous learning

- Recruit top-tier talent in AI/ML, backend engineering, data engineering, and product development

- Establish engineering best practices, code quality standards, and development workflows

- Enable cross-functional collaboration between technology, product, and business teams

- Develop team members' technical and leadership capabilities

Business & Operations :

- Manage technology budgets and optimize resource allocation for maximum ROI

- Track and analyze technology performance metrics and KPIs

- Ensure effective use of technology across all departments

- Participate in strategic management decisions and corporate governance

- Assess technological opportunities and risks for the business

- Balance innovation with practical business constraints and timelines

Required Qualifications :

Education :

- B.E./B.Tech/MCA in Computer Science, AI/ML, Engineering, or related technical field

- Advanced degree (M.S./Ph.D.) in Machine Learning, AI, or Computational Sciences preferred

Experience :

- 8-15 years of progressive technology leadership experience

- Minimum 3-5 years in senior technology leadership roles (VP Engineering, CTO, or equivalent)

- Proven experience building and scaling AI/ML systems in production environments

- Background in EdTech, behavioural analytics, or data-intensive platforms strongly preferred

- Track record of leading teams through significant technical transformations

- Experience with startups or high-growth technology companies valued

Technical Expertise :

Core Technologies :

- Deep expertise in AI/ML, including model development, training, and deployment at scale

- Strong foundation in statistical modelling, psychometrics, and Item Response Theory (IRT)

- Advanced knowledge of data modelling, database design, and large-scale data architectures

- Proficiency in modern cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) and distributed systems

- Experience with recommendation systems, personalization algorithms, and adaptive systems

Specialized Knowledge :

- Understanding of behavioural science, cognitive psychology, or educational psychology

- Experience with NLP, computer vision, or multimodal AI systems

- Knowledge of privacy-preserving ML, federated learning, or differential privacy is a plus

- Familiarity with learning analytics standards (xAPI, LTI, SCORM)

Leadership & Strategic Skills :

- Exceptional strategic thinking and business acumen

- Proven ability to translate business goals into technical strategy and execution

- Outstanding communication skills with ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

- Strong product sense and user-centric design thinking

- Experience presenting to boards, investors, and executive leadership

- Demonstrated ability to drive innovation while managing operational excellence
