Key Responsibilities :

Technical Leadership & Architecture :

- Lead the design and architecture of WordPress solutions that are scalable, secure, and high-performing.

- Evaluate and recommend plugins, themes, frameworks, and integrations to meet business requirements.

- Define coding standards, best practices, and development workflows for the WordPress team.

- Drive technical innovation in WordPress development, including headless CMS, Gutenberg block development, and API-driven architectures.

Development & Implementation :

- Oversee full lifecycle development : design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of WordPress websites and applications.

- Customize themes and plugins to deliver business-specific functionality.

- Integrate WordPress with external systems using REST APIs, webhooks, and other data services.

- Optimize site performance, caching, and SEO best practices.

Team Leadership & Mentorship :

- Lead, mentor, and guide a team of WordPress developers to improve skills, performance, and code quality.

- Conduct code reviews, pair programming sessions, and knowledge-sharing workshops.

- Collaborate with product managers and UX/UI designers to ensure solutions align with business goals.

- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning within the development team.

Security, Maintenance & Governance :

- Implement security best practices, regular audits, and vulnerability management.

- Maintain version control, staging environments, and CI/CD pipelines for WordPress deployments.

- Monitor site uptime, performance, and error logging; troubleshoot and resolve technical issues proactively.

Stakeholder Collaboration :

- Work closely with product owners, designers, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and propose technical solutions.

- Communicate technical trade-offs, risks, and timelines clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

- Provide strategic input into product roadmaps, technology choices, and scalability planning.

Required Qualifications :

- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.

- Strong expertise in PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and MySQL.

- Hands-on experience with custom themes, plugin development, Gutenberg blocks, and API integrations.

- Proven experience managing WordPress scalability, security, and performance optimization.

Preferred Skills :

- Experience with headless WordPress / REST API / GraphQL architectures.

- Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or GCP hosting solutions for WordPress.

- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and automated testing for WordPress.

- Exposure to UI/UX design, SEO best practices, and accessibility standards.

- Strong leadership, mentoring, and team management skills
