Title : Backend Engineer (Cloud Integrations & Platform Logic)

About the Role :

We are building an automated cloud cost optimization and governance platform. We are looking for a Backend Engineer with strong application development skills who can design, build, and maintain the core backend logic that integrates deeply with AWS, GCP, and Azure.

This role is not pure infrastructure or DevOps. You will be building product-grade backend systems that connect to cloud provider APIs, process large volumes of usage and cost data, apply business logic, and trigger automated actions reliably and safely.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design and build backend services for the Sleepy Cloud platform

- Integrate with AWS, GCP, and Azure APIs (cost, billing, compute, Kubernetes, monitoring, IAM, etc.)

- Implement business logic for :

a. Cost anomaly detection

b. Resource utilization analysis

c. Policy enforcement and guardrails

d. Automated remediation workflows

- Build and maintain microservices and API layers used by the product

- Process and aggregate cloud usage, billing, and telemetry data at scale

- Implement safe, auditable automation with rollback and guardrails

- Collaborate with DevOps, cloud engineers, and product stakeholders

- Write clean, testable, well-documented code suitable for a production SaaS platform

- Contribute to architecture decisions with a focus on reliability, correctness, and predictable outcomes

Required Skills & Experience :

1. Strong backend application development experience in at least one of :

a. Python

b. Node.js

c. .NET

2. Hands-on experience integrating with cloud provider APIs, preferably :

a. AWS SDKs / APIs

b. GCP APIs

c. Azure APIs

3. Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and backend services

4. Solid understanding of microservices architecture

5. Experience working with :

a. Authentication & authorization (IAM, roles, permissions)

b. Async processing, background jobs, schedulers

c. Databases (SQL and/or NoSQL)

- Comfortable working with cloud-native environments and distributed systems

- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to edge cases and failure modes

Nice to Have (Not Mandatory) :

- Experience with Kubernetes or containerized workloads

- Familiarity with cloud billing, usage, or FinOps concepts

- Experience building SaaS or platform products

- Exposure to event-driven systems (queues, pub/sub, streams)

- Understanding of security best practices in cloud environments

- Prior work on automation platforms or infrastructure tooling
