Virtusa - DevOps Lead - AWS Cloud

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior DevOps / Technical Lead with strong expertise in Java development, AWS cloud architecture, and modern DevOps practices. The ideal candidate will lead the design and automation of CI/CD pipelines, architect scalable cloud infrastructure, and drive adoption of serverless and containerized architectures. This role requires strong technical leadership, hands-on engineering capability, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable, secure, and scalable deployments.

Key Responsibilities :

DevOps & CI/CD :

- Design, implement, and automate CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions and ArgoCD.

- Build robust and scalable deployment pipelines for microservices-based applications.

- Establish release governance practices, ensuring safe and efficient production deployments.

- Drive automation across the SDLC to improve development productivity and reliability.

Cloud Architecture & Infrastructure :

- Architect and manage cloud infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.

- Design and deploy highly available and scalable AWS environments.

- Implement and manage Amazon EKS clusters for containerized workloads.

- Integrate Kafka-based event streaming systems for high-throughput distributed architectures.

- Utilize AWS Inspector and other AWS-native security tools to monitor vulnerabilities and maintain compliance.

Serverless & Modern Architecture :

- Lead the adoption of serverless architectures using AWS Lambda and other AWS services.

- Design microservices-based architectures leveraging containerization with Docker and Kubernetes.

- Optimize application performance, scalability, and cost using AWS-native services.

Software Development & Integration :

- Provide hands-on development and technical guidance using Java, Java EE, and Spring Boot frameworks.

- Develop Python scripts for automation, integration, and operational tooling.

- Integrate applications with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and SQL Server using ORM frameworks like Hibernate and JPA.

Leadership & Collaboration :

- Mentor and guide DevOps engineers and development teams on best practices.

- Conduct system architecture reviews and operational audits to improve system reliability and security.

- Collaborate with product managers, architects, and engineering teams to enable seamless deployments and scaling.

- Promote a culture of observability, reliability engineering, and DevSecOps practices.

Required Skills & Experience :

- 8 / 10+ years of software development experience with strong Java expertise.

- Minimum 3+ years of technical leadership or architecture experience.

- Strong hands-on experience with :

a. Java EE, Spring Boot, and microservices frameworks

b. AWS cloud architecture and deployment

c. CI/CD tools GitHub Actions, ArgoCD

d. Infrastructure as Code Terraform

e. Containerization Docker & Kubernetes

f. Amazon EKS

g. Event streaming platforms Kafka

h. Python scripting for automation

- Experience with database systems such as PostgreSQL or SQL Server.

- Familiarity with ORM frameworks like Hibernate and JPA.

- Strong understanding of DevOps practices, observability, and system monitoring.

- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Experience with front-end technologies such as Angular or Node.js.

- Familiarity with additional Infrastructure as Code tools such as Ansible or ARM templates.

- Experience working with large-scale distributed systems and high-availability architectures.

- Exposure to security best practices and DevSecOps implementations.

Certifications (Preferred) :

- AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate / Professional

- Other relevant AWS or DevOps certifications are a plus.
