Job Title : CISS-DWS-UXM Consultant

Proposed Grade C1-C2

Roles and Responsibilities :


In Digital Workplace Services, a UXM (User Experience Management) Consultantalso referred to as a Workplace Experience Consultantspecialises in measuring and improving how employees interact with digital tools.

Core Responsibilities :


- Experience Monitoring & Analytics : Utilizing tools like Nexthink, IE, Microsoft Analytics, or Lakeside to proactively identify hardware or software performance "pain points" before they result in a support ticket.


- Persona & Journey Mapping : Categorizing employees into personas (e.g., "Field Sales" vs. "HQ Admin") and mapping their digital journeys to identify gaps in productivity or high friction points.


- Strategy & Architecture : Designing the target state for a digital workplace, ensuring that tools like Microsoft 365 or Teams are implemented in a user-centric way rather than just technically configured.


- Change & Adoption Management : Designing communication and training strategies (such as "video pills" or microlearning) to ensure employees actually adopt and benefit from new technologies.


- Governance & Standardization : Establishing rules for naming, versioning, and automated workflows to prevent "tool fragmentation" and disorganized data.


- Stakeholder Liaison : Acting as a bridge between business leaders (who want productivity) and IT teams (who manage infrastructure), translating technical data into actionable business insights.


Technical Skill Set :


- To excel as a UXM (User Experience Management) Consultant within Digital Workplace Services, you need a unique mix of high-level data analysis, technical platform expertise, and organizational strategy.


Technical Platform & Tool Mastery :


- You must be an expert in Digital Employee Experience (DEX) monitoring tools to gain "observability" into the workplace.


DEX Tools :


- Advanced proficiency in platforms like Nexthink or Lakeside SysTrack to track "DEX Scores," diagnose performance issues, and automate remediations.


Automation & Scripting :


- Ability to write PowerShell, Bash, or Python scripts to proactively fix common endpoint issues (e.g., clearing cache, patching software) before the user notices.


Cloud & IT Ecosystems :


- Understanding how these tools integrate with ITSM platforms (like ServiceNow), Identity Providers (Okta, Azure AD), and collaboration suites (M365, Slack).


Data Analytics & Insight Translation :


- The core of UXM is moving from technical metrics (uptime) to experience metrics (productivity).


Experience Level Agreements (XLAs) :


- Knowledge of how to design and measure XLAs rather than traditional SLAs.


- Persona Modeling : Using data to segment users into groups based on their specific tool requirements and behavior.


- Data Visualization : Mastery of Power BI or Tableau to present "user sentiment" alongside "technical health" in a way that non-technical leaders can understand.


- Strategic "Soft" Skills : Consultants act as the "bridge" between the IT department and the actual employees.


- Change Management : Proficiency in frameworks like ADKAR to lead users through technology transitions (e.g., moving from Windows to Mac or shifting to new cloud tools).


- User Research & Psychology : Background in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) or psychology to conduct unbiased user research and identify "digital friction".


- Stakeholder Influence : Ability to build a business case for IT investments by demonstrating how they directly improve employee retention and productivity.

These are the most critical for technical consultants to demonstrate mastery of modern Digital Employee Experience (DEX) platforms.


- Certified Nexthink Expert : Validates end-to-end mastery of the Nexthink ecosystem, including DEX management, automation, and platform administration.


- Certified Nexthink Professional in DEX Management : Confirms status as a specialist in leading organizations toward superior digital employee experiences.


- Lakeside SysTrack Specialist : While less formal than Nexthink, Lakeside offers specific training for their DEX platform.


- Qualtrics XM for Employee Experience Expert : Focuses on gathering and acting on employee sentiment and experience data.


2. Human-Centred Design & UX Foundations (Optional) :


These certifications provide the theoretical framework for analyzing user needs and designing digital workplace solutions.


- Certified Professional for Usability and User Experience (CPUX) : An international standard for UX professionals covering foundations, user requirements engineering, and management.


- Nielsen Norman Group (NN/g) UX Certification : Highly prestigious certification requiring the completion of five specialized courses and exams (e.g., "Measuring UX and ROI").


- Google UX Design Professional Certificate : A foundational program covering the entire UX design process, research, and tools like Figma
