Job Description :

The SAP Release and Technical Project Manager will be responsible for leading and managing SAP release activities and technical projects, ensuring timely and successful deployments across all relevant landscapes. This role requires a strong understanding of the SAP deployment lifecycle, excellent project management skills, and the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing end-to-end SAP deployments, including leading technical cutovers, and possess a solid technical understanding of SAP Basis and S/4HANA environments.

Responsibilities :

Release Management :

- Develop, manage, and execute release management plans and activities across a portfolio of SAP systems, including SAP Basis, S/4HANA, and SAP Datasphere.

- Forward plan release windows and cycles, ensuring alignment across key partners and vendors.

- Coordinate release content and effort based on incident/service request backlogs, pending service requests, third-party applications, and operating system updates.

- Negotiate, plan, and manage all release activities, ensuring adherence to schedules and quality standards.

- Work closely with release engineers to understand the impacts of branches and code merges.

- Maintain the release schedule for all core services and ensure alignment across key partners and vendors.

- Continually work towards making improvements in the release process.

- Lead and coordinate Go-Live activities, including the execution of deployment plans and checklists.

- Participate in CAB (Change Advisory Board) meetings to discuss release scope and/or roadblocks.

- Maintain a release repository and manage key information such as build and release procedures, dependencies, and notification lists.

- Produce deployment plans, run books, and implementation plans.

- Provide weekly release reporting to relevant stakeholders.

Technical Project Management :

- Manage technical SAP projects, including upgrades, implementations, and migrations, ensuring adherence to project management methodologies.

- Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders.

- Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and resource allocation.

- Track project progress, manage risks and issues, and ensure on-time and within-budget delivery.

- Coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion.

- Communicate all key project plans, commitments, and changes, including requirements, QA plans, schedule, and scope changes.

Stakeholder Communication & Management :

- Exhibit excellent verbal and written English communication skills, essential for effective interaction with global teams.

- Interface and communicate effectively with PMO (Project Management Office) and key stakeholders/teams involved in release activities.

- Manage relationships and coordinate work between different teams at different locations.

- Be confident in managing up and providing clear and concise reporting and meeting updates to senior management and release management.

- Communicate release details and schedules to the Business as required.

- Conduct Release Readiness reviews, Milestone Reviews, and Business Go/No-Go reviews.

SAP Expertise :

- Demonstrate specific core competence within SAP (SME module).

- Possess other technical competence levels within SAP (additional SME modules to support application).

- Exhibit a solid understanding of SAP Basis and S/4HANA environments.

- Experience with SAP Datasphere release management is highly desirable.

- Advanced knowledge of the software development lifecycle within the SAP context.

Experience & Skills :

- 6-8 years of previous release and/or project/portfolio management experience, with a solid understanding of project management methodologies.

- 8-10 years of overall experience in SAP / Non-SAP project systems operations environment in systems analysis or development.

- Evidence of at least 5 end-to-end SAP Deployments, including a LEAD role in every Technical Cutover.

- Demonstrated effective leadership and analytical skills.

- Ability to measure and monitor progress to ensure application releases are delivered on time and within the scheduled plan across all landscapes and meet or exceed expectations.

- Research new software development and configuration management methodologies and technologies and analyze their application to current configuration management needs.
