About the Role :

The Tech Lead Manager at DISCO is responsible for building high-quality, scalable software that delivers impactful features for customers.

This role combines technical leadership with people management, driving system architecture for key subsystems while mentoring and guiding engineering teams.

The ideal candidate will lead system design, contribute to implementation, review code, and ensure engineering best practices across the development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities :

Technical Leadership :

- Lead the architecture and design of scalable systems and subsystems.

- Contribute directly to development through coding, design reviews, and architectural decisions.

- Ensure software quality through best engineering practices, testing frameworks, and CI/CD processes.

- Design and implement highly available, secure, and scalable distributed systems.

Project & Stakeholder Management :

- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineering teams to define project requirements and deliver solutions.

- Maintain engineering standards and ensure projects are delivered on schedule.

- Provide technical guidance and decision-making throughout the development lifecycle.

Team Leadership :

- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team.

- Promote an open culture that encourages discussion of challenges, failures, and successes.

- Monitor team performance and support professional development.

Communication & Reporting :

- Prepare and present progress updates and technical reports to stakeholders.

- Ensure alignment across cross-functional teams on product and engineering priorities.

Required Qualifications :

- 8+ years of software development experience, preferably building large-scale web applications.

- Experience leading engineering teams and overseeing technical delivery and performance.

- Hands-on experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) and strong testing practices.

- Experience with NoSQL databases, caching technologies, and non-relational storage systems.

- Experience working with Federated GraphQL to provide unified API access across multiple systems.

- Experience with event-driven architecture and messaging platforms such as Kafka.

- Hands-on experience with Protobuf and gRPC for service interfaces and data serialization.

- Experience selecting and integrating third-party commercial or open-source components.

- Experience building and operating systems on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

- Experience working with SQL-based cloud data storage technologies.

Preferred Skills :

- Strong understanding of microservices architecture, service-oriented architecture, and containerized environments (e.g., Docker).

- Expertise in API design and data modeling for scalable and highly available systems.

- Ability to design layered application architectures that adapt to evolving business needs.

- Experience designing systems with security-first principles.

- Excellent technical problem-solving, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills.
